I think that Saints will retain McInnes's services at a price happily agreed to by both parties. I also believe Griffin will make McInnes's job on the field much easier showcasing his attacking game and short kicks in general play from dummy half.

I get the impression that Brandon Smith is more off a “ how much “ man , than a good old fashioned “ proud to wear this jersey “ man .

Could be wrong , however as Griffin has stated on a few occasions now he is only interested in players that truly wish to be at the Dragons .

Smith is just a Merc. Nothing more.
I'd pass.
Don’t agree

He has been patient waiting for show pony Cameron Smith to vacate but there is no real sign of that happening.

in amongst that other options have now presented for the Storm (Harry Grant) further complicating the future for BS.

He has acknowledged CS’s right to determine his future and timing (as a good club man would) but has also seen that his future as a 9 might lie elsewhere.

He has been loyal to the Storm and his captain with no sense of security being offered in return.

From a Saints point of view, it would be better if Griffin sorts out the contract with McInnes sooner rather than later mainly because if McInnes is moving on, then B Smith is a great option. I'm sure that the Storm are going to go with Grant if C Smith is not there.

Agree possum , there is really no reason why the Dragons should hesitate extending McInnes contract ( not that there are talks already in progress , unbeknown to us ) as he is certainly value for money .

As far as moving on is concerned , I cannot understand why he would , as his is a true workhorse whom under Griffin - who will ‘ surely crack the whip ‘ to his teammates to lessen McInnes’s workload .

I would be very pleased if the Dragons could attract Brandon Smith as I see him as both skillful and tough. Unfortunately, he want to play hooker which is the one position we have covered.

Therefore, I see the next best outcome being a club that desperately needs a hooker and is prepared to release a top second rower or prop to free up funds. Perhaps the Warriors or Broncos?

I believe that the Rorters are dillying and dallying around the mulberry bush as far as renewing Jake Friends contract for beyond 2021 and as many others have already said , that’s one big sombrero they have covering their salary cap .

I wonder if Brandon can cackle like a chook ?

Provided he is offered a number nine shirt, I expect that he will learn how to cackle, purr, squawk or sliver for the highest bidder.

Saints need to sort things out with McInnes asap because if they can't come to terms, B Smith would be the best alternative for 2022.

Two thoughts about the above:-
1. McInnes doesn't have a kicking game at present so he will be on a steep learning curve.
2. You have correctly noted in the past that McInnes as captain is a very poor communicator. Ben Hunt seems a very taciturn person as well. Brandon Smith offers an extroverted personality that, with a bit of spit and polish, could be the makings of a future captain.
I can see the upside of moving McInnes on and investing in Smith as replacement Hooker.
