The National Rugby League (NRL) today issued a breach notice to the St George Illawarra Dragons alleging a breach of the NRL Rules.

The breach notice relates to a contractual matter involving player Ronald Volkman from earlier in the year. The NRL acknowledges the cooperation of the Dragons with the investigation of the NRL Integrity Unit.

he notice proposes a fine for the Club of $40,000, which will be suspended for a period of 24 months.

The Dragons have 5 business days to respond to the breach notice

Whilst teams a bringing in players, Saints are getting breach notices because they clearly have no idea how to recruit. Unless they literally fall on their laps they have no idea by the looks of things.

This is embarrassing. When will they finally get a recruitment guy on board. What are they waiting for? Since they missed out on POS there has been nothing.

I do not know why the Board had not hired a professional recruitment officer and why Haran, Millward and Millard are still on our books.

Only the dragons could f**k something up like making sure a player is healthy before signing them…or spelling the word “dragons” correctly on a jersey…or having a player’s debut date printed correctly on a jersey…or beating the team coming last to make it to the semis…nah f**k all these merkins

I suppose all these pieces of ineptitude, the Volkman issue, and the two issues with the special jerseys lead to Ryan Webbs demise?
A “buck stops here” situation?

No idea mate. Not sure if it’s the CEO’s job to oversee player signings and to do simple tasks. Maybe he left because he had a gut full of working with an unprofessional and inept organisation. I’m a dragon’s fan and even I’ve had enough

it’s about time proper processes and procedures were put in place by our recruitment team.

Surely all players undergo a full physical examination and all medical records are scrutinised before contracts are signed

No training with the side until all relevant pre-conditions are satisfied

So tired of our amateurish admin team.

Yeh no biggie luckily..but i will say it again and again
When is the GM of football going to be held to account to what goes on in his own department?
I know the answer but it infuriates me no end. Whoever the new CEO is hopefully has the gumption to do this whilst beating some of the BOD away with a stick

I wonder if Dogs get any breach notice for having a player wrestle 30+ guys and suffer mental breakdown taking them to court and possibly causing a huge lawsuit against the NRL. If that is not bringing a game in disrepute than what is? THat seems to have gone away. Maybe a settlement was made. If so, isn't that an admission of guilt? Again NRL should put in a breach notice if Saints are getting one which is far worse as it would not have made news if not for their pathetic training methods which they supported at the time.

Wrestle 30+ guys, Boxing career, DUI charge. When the Dogs want a guy out they sure are creative.

I love how that major story about a players welfare is being kept quiet whilst the Dragons get mentioned for tearing up a contract because a guy failed a medical.

What is the latest on Joseph Topine? Has anyone heard anything?

We cop a lot of the crap and maybe in some cases it is warranted but to see this former "family" club not being served with some sort of breach notice for issues of bringing the game into disrepute is beyond my comprehension. I know Gus is a man of a million plus words and he can argue a point til all the cows in all of the farms of NSW come home, is he that good?

If JAC was on our books and he was involved in the fight during the Koori Knockout games last year and tested positive to cocaine the other week, there would not have been anyone with the guts in our Club who would have stood up and spoke about the issues and we would have just sacked him and forfeit his salary on the cap.

No guts, no glory is the saying.

I hate the Bulldogs.

Isn't the Telecrap a wonderful unbiased newspaper - its run 3 stories on the Dragons today -
Dragons trying to swap Rava for bad boy Carr
Dragons King Togia clear after pub drama
Dragons cop 40K fine for Ronald Volkman

Then they have 3 motivation articles spurring on the Sharks vs Panthers -
Cronulla 90-0 - last 228 minutes vs Panthers
Gummy Sharks - Penrith is Cronulla's Kryptonite
Talakai - played reserves then cut by Panthers - needs to prove himself

I firmly believe much of the Dragons poor form in the past 10-12 years has to do with certain media outlets and specific journalists from those organisations continually trying to undermine the team/brand. The sooner our management refuse to deal with them the better.

Really? I mean really?

Really?!?!?!?!?

Here I was all this time thinking our poor form was due to 3 idiotic coaching appointments in a row (Price, McGregor, Griffin) which led to a roster that was weakened year upon year upon year and a decade of continuous poor recruitment decisions which left us with a mentally weak losing culture and all of this was the fault of an inept board that continually doubled down on their monumentally stupid decisions.

Well now I just feel stupid. All this time I was blaming the wrong people! It's the media's fault of course!

Cronulla is clearly the golden child of the NRL that is for sure and if the NRL could, they would love nothing more than have the Sharks take over the whole area of Saints to the Gong. Soft draws to keep them in the 8 each year to make them a look like such a successful club to attract all the players. Losing 7 finals games and getting bumbled out of the 8 clearly last 3 years in straight sets shows how helpful the draw is to them. I feel the Cows lost that game last week more than anything as they only played 1 half of footy. The Cows were diabolical in the 1st half.
