My opinion this is the greatest emerging batsman batsman in the world today since a young Arab De Villiers for South Africa.

brief background:

-highest average in logan cup (zimbabwe domestic)
-once required a 6 of the last delivery to win and won in an ODI (youtube it)
-smashed the aussies in that 20/20
-this year has scored something like 3 centuries from last 7 innings with another 2 fifties in that 7

and if you have been following you would know how gangsta he is under pressure.

Anyway i would like to start this thread to pay a bit of tribute to this man who plays almost free of charge for his country and to follow his progress.

hes doing a stint for wellington in the kiwi 20/20s and just smashed 57 of 33 balls for them to record first win.

Also and for the record he was invited to play the big bash this year but turned it down fo some damn reason.

if he was in australia he would play for australia- probably opener or at number 3 where marsh is

Great cricketer but a test average of 31 says it all. He would not be a regular for Australia.

And the Logan Cup has a similar standard to grade cricket.

And I'm fairly certain he was not offered a Big Bash contract. He's playing in the NZ T20.

hey timbo,
he was...its on the net, i can dig up a link if you like.

Firdoose someone wrote about it- shesa cricket journo.

and his test average is so low because he was thrust into the test arena when he was an 18 yr old after the rebel waljout, he wasnt ready at all.

look at his reciord in his last 3 tests since ziombabwe have been reintroduced into the game. Disregard his teenage stats.

I do believe he would crack the aussie team, his strokeplay is effortless, brilliant and he has alot of patience.

Maybe one day someone will dig this thread up in 5 years time when he averages 45.

He's a talent, no question

keeping for Wellington in our 20:20 comp, looks handy at that too!

he doesnt keep for zimbabwe purely because taibu is one of the best keepers in the world gloves alone. hes very chatty behind the stumps.

i just did some mathematics to help prove thugg-Ds point

i acknowledge its only 3 tests this year since reintroduction to the test arena, but look.

335811771.60335811771.60335811771.60358 runs, highest score 117

average; 71.60

i promise aussies would like a guy with that record coming in for them. he does it in quick time too. hes such a bully.

now lets talk about ODI NUMBERS.

17 odiS in the lasat 12 months

average:49.8

If you filter that to just test nations...... it goes up into the mid 50s!

say what!

Just hit a four off the last ball of the innings to get his hundred in today's 20/20.

Doing well for us (Wellington) for sure.

Scored an impressive 11 runs across both innings against another minnow in NZ. I can't see the NZ scorecard because cricinfo mobile website is shit but I'll assume he did nothing in the field.

Great prediction

Meanwhile Australia just defeated India 4-0 I think we will pass on Taylor

Lol well done Parraboy. Zimbots 51 and 3/12 at tea.

Chris Martin is hooping them around like a champion though, he's unplayable.

'Our Brendan Taylor, now I ask you is he any good, our Brendan Taylor as a batsmen he is certainly plum pud'.

Doesn't quite have the same ring to it.
