Apparently he is NSW best halfback option, but I struggle to see that he is up to First Grade standard any more. He seems a nice enough bloke and there has been alot of talk about how he is enjoying his footy this season and playing really well.
However every time I watch the Sharks play the guy is awful. There is no ned product. He is busy and so on but thats about it. Sure, he has a decent long kicking game. That is nullified by his predictable before the line passing, poor short kicking game and general lack of ability to lay on a try. Today he had a 4 man overlap and indtead decided to put a kick straight to Merritt. I watched him at CTown earlier this season and I thought he was the worst player on the field. In numerous games since the Sharks has looked completely lost inside the opposition 20 and this has to come down to both Super coach Ricky Staurt and the lack of creativity and ability of his halback.
The Sharks always look better with Dykes at halfback and generally win when Kimmorley is out of the side. However Dykes is shocking when playing at 6 with Kimmorley at 7. Watching these 2 play together is like a trian wreck.
Its a real worry that this guy is considered the best halfback in NSW, when he can't even help his club side across the line against mediocre oposition from week to week.
