Briers and Reardon were the standouts

They wouldn't have been able to field a side for the warm up match without them, due to the scheduling in terms of the SL Grand Final, or more particularly the teams and GB squad members involved in that match. If Bradford had made the GF, then they wouldn't have needed the standby guys flown out, it was their insurance policy to make sure there was some organised warm up game.

Just points to the need to get our elite season sstarting and finsihing at the same time to enable a meaningful, equal and simple international calendar.

Pretty much, but I think GB would see it as an investment, a continuation on the 40 man squad training days done through the year. Letting the next rung of guys know they're close and giving them a taste in the hope they go on and make it to the top 25 for their respective countries next year (of which Briers already has now).

If Carney keeps his place after the sh*t he dished up today then it's a disgrace.

Where does your beef with Carney stem from JasonE? I've never read posts from you about any other British player that contain such negativity.

I know his attitude wasn't right during his last season at Wigan, but from this side of the pond he seems to have thrived in the NRL. He won the Dally M Winger of the year award did he not, and he seemed to be getting rave reviews?
