It's quite obvious that this $3.25 million salary cap is a joke, the rich seem to be getting richer and the poor poorer. :?
We were promised a tight competition with close scorelines but all we have seen to date is cricket scores, why is it in the NFL and the ARL it seem's to work but not with the f*ckwit's who run the NRL.
What are your thought's??????????????/

Proved to be illegal in a court of law. Introduce it to the NRL one player takes it to court and we are back to step one.

Dont they have it in Aussie rules?

Whi isnt it illegel down there if they do?

Its drastic, but something drastic needs to be done.
Im getting real disillusioned with this game, the f**kers in the right
colours get everything.

Roosters
flegg team trains with state of origin for three f**kin weeks...FFS there already winning undefeated....no its ok give their kids origin experience before they even get to PL....oh yeah and lets make our half the 18th man for the origin so he can hang around too and get experience no other player gets the opportunity at....specialist half for 18th man???yeah f**kin right!!!

saints
Oh lets get NRL chief Gallupp and origin coach Pus and origin coach in waiting Dicky to guarantee our star scumbag centre a rep spot so he dont go off to old blighty.

aahh f**k it....dont start me on joey and the f**kin nags!!!!!!!!!

I've been saying to anyone who'll listen we need the draft. The NRL are fooling themselves when they say the cap is working. The AFL do have a draft which works well. Look at St Kilda who are leading the comp and a couple of years ago were coming last. I know Penrith did the same thing last year but they were an anomaly. It will revert to the usual 4 this year. The payoff and it's pretty big is that the clubs don't run the junior teams. The whole thing is run by the AFL. Maybe the NRL can come up with a system where we keep the junior teams but they definitely need to do something.

Why would anyone except a perennial loser support a draft?

Show some backbone for goodness sake. Build this club into something!

Innsaneink & thylacine, congratulations on two of the most impotent and inconsequential posts of all time. Perennial losers both.

For some reason Miracle Balls equates the draft with losers #-o which I don't get. Madunit I usually agree with your comments so can you elaborate.

Do you hear Brisbane, Canterbury, Roosters, Saints or Penrith suggesting a draft? No? That may be because they all know how to run successful football clubs. I'd like to one day see the Tigers at that elite level, but that's only going to happen through innovation and intelligence not through a draft.

That is true, when we are succesfull it will be more rewarding to know that the club we all have supported through the times, has had no help really at all and most (hopefully) of the players will be from our juniors

I don't want to see a comp that is dominated by the same 4 or 5 teams each year whilst the remaining 70% are there to make up the numbers, as is the case in the NRL now.

Even if our club was to get its act together & become one of the 30% which were realistic contenders I wouldn't change my view that it is detrimental to the game in general. Eventually the perenial strugglers would cease to exist due to a lack of support/interest from fans disillusioned with the fact that a "Claytons" salary cap does nothing to prevent the wealthy clubs getting wealthier (in terms of playing rosters).

I would prefer to see a cyclic changing of the guard every 2 or 3 years, introducing new teams to finals football, as is the case in comps with a combined cap & draft such as the AFL & American NFL & NBA.

We need a draft coupled with a salary cap to ensure the NRL is a winnable competition to all clubs with a bit of foresight & tactical savvy, not just those with a sugar daddy & creative accountants.

Gee now there's a groundbreaking idea, we can take it in turns. Kind of like waiting for your number to be called at the Leagues Club bistro.

And of course you'd have no problems with seeing your team decimated after a successful year or two so somebody else could have their turn. No I'm sure you wouldn't.

Piffle.

In an ideal world yeah I would prefer not to have a draft or a cap but get realisitic ](*,). It's going to take years if ever for us to reach the level of the roosters and I'm not sure we can afford it. When does our licence run out? I haven't heard any complaints from AFL supporters. And Miracle Balls our team wouldn't be decimated with a draft because they come from junior teams not first grade.
