"think your original post shows your a bit worried about sunday bryce, if your eels are as good as you talk them up to be then walker or no walker they should win. Unfortunatly we'll see on sunday once again that the Eels are pretenders and as usual the Broncos are contenders.

Yep contenders alright el dragqueen. Today we nearly bet a side that has been cruising to the title all year with half a squad and only a few wins in months, not a bad effort when i'm sure that a few months ago many people were writing us off when the injury toll went up and the losses column sky rocketed.
As usual are the key words there el dragqueen. In 14 years the Broncos have always been contenders, only missed the semis twice and have 5 title to their names, it makes the parramatta history look pathetic in comparrison.
They were the better side today and congrats to them, I'm very proud of the Broncos today, althoughthey have dished out of the seasonthey got there and could sniff the grand final thats alot further than i thought they'd get when they were 7 losses on the trot.
Next year can't come soon enough as far as i'm concerned, good luck to the Knights on Sunday but come round 1 next year the Broncos will have the ranks filled again and ready for a proper assault on the title. They have got all the bad luck out of the way in one season and if the personal can stay on board for the course next year its title number 6.

Cheers

Kepp crying KID.
The only history your franchise will be remembered for is probably ruining the game of RL.

One thing they'll be remembered for is they gave you a reason to moan your face off night and day on this forum. I'm surprised you managed to view the game with your busy bitching schedule.

Cheers

I talk from time to time with a fellow from Brisbane who is here in Canada for a year on a teacher exchange. He tells me:
- Bennett is the best coach in the game
- the best Qld players used to be "stolen" by NSW clubs. Now that they have the Broncos to play for, the Broncos are always one of the best teams. (Not sure if I have the history of that right)
- the Broncos only did poorly this season because of a terrible string of injuries
- before the first SOO game he told me there was a suspicious suspension of a Qld. player (or more) because the league favours NSW. He said that's been known to happen before
Is this all true?

Bronco

Narkers of the comp?

Justify this statement while looking at the Bennett "using the media to cite players is not our go" actions, you prententious f**kwit. Hipocryte is the only word that can describe the actions of the Bronco administration this year, surely even you can admit this. Being a bronc supporter I doubt it very much, time to swallow some pride and admit it . I did have some respect for you before the narker comment, all that has done is show how little you know/ and are willing to admit about your club. Time to grow up bronco.

- Bennett is the best coach in the game
While it's subjective, Bennet has been considered close to being the best coach in the game for, at least, the past decade. Nobody else can match that. - the best Qld players used to be "stolen" by NSW clubs. Now that they have the Broncos to play for, the Broncos are always one of the best teams. (Not sure if I have the history of that right)

Before state of origin (pre-1980), many of Queenslands best players went to NSW because their clubs were richer due to being backed by poker machines (which Qld clubs weren't). As a result, Qld would often get flogged by NSW in interstate matches, with much of the NSW side being made up of ex-Queenslanders. This all changed with state of origin, and in the time since, interstate football has been very competitive.

Since the introduction of the Broncos, many Qlders have been able to play in the premier competition without having to go to NSW. The Broncos have been a quality side ever since they entered the competition (1988) and have made the finals for the past ten years, winning five premierships. However, the vast majority of Broncos players have come through their development system, as opposed to being bought when they were already quality players.

- the Broncos only did poorly this season because of a terrible string of injuries.

The Broncos did have a lot of injuries and it, undeniably, had an effect on their season. In addition to this, a lot of the young players in the team failed to perform following the state of origin.

- before the first SOO game he told me there was a suspicious suspension of a Qld. player (or more) because the league favours NSW. He said that's been known to happen before

I think your friend is being paranoid.

Canadian Steve:
As Mystery Man points out, the 'stolen generation' of Queenslanders was pre -1980. Perhaps your friend should be reminded that some 20 years have passed since then.

Despite what some Queenslanders will have you believe, New South Wales is not the enemy. The real enemy is much closer to home.
The biggest problem that faces Queensland Rugby League nowadays is the dominance of the Broncos.
They hold the NRL franchise for the well populated South East Queenland region and will not give it up easily.
There used to be 2 other teams in the region but they were given the flickin1998. Brisbane were quick to have it written into their NRL contract that no other team was allowed to form a franchise in the region before 2002. Well that time is drawing close and the word is that the Broncos are keen to get an extension. One things for sure, they'll do what ever it takes to stop another team forming in SE Qld.

Not surprisingly, there are some who want another Qld team and see this as being good for Qld Rugby League.
The Broncos on the other hand are only looking out for themselves and don't give a tinker's cuss about the development of Qld footy.

- Bennett is the best coach in the game
Utter Tripe. Bennet coaches a club who has twice the potential talent as anyone else, due to the salary cap bing overlooked. Brisbane had 5 players rated in the top 10 this year. They have won 2 from their last 10. Injuries sminjuries. Bennet has only "won" 4 comps. Brisbane bought on in 1995. The best coach at the moment is Brian Smith. Daniel Anderson (in his debut year), John Lang, Tim Sheens and Phil Gould have all done special things as coach woith half the team. Bennet is the Frearri driver in a billy cart race. He has therefore won 4 from 12. Some coach huh! - the best Qld players used to be "stolen" by NSW clubs. Now that they have the Broncos to play for, the Broncos are always one of the best teams. (Not sure if I have the history of that right)

NSW clubs used to send a big truck and a team of bounty hunters to Queenbsland to 'steal' their players! It's a free market system, and the Sydney Comp was about 10 times better than theirs!

Look, pre Origin, NSW used to only have 1 or 2 Queenslanders in their sides. Besides, 2 out of 4 Queensland clubs have been killed off by Brisbane.

- the Broncos only did poorly this season because of a terrible string of injuries.
And because other teams were better. bennet preferred to gamble with Gordon Tallis and his broken neck, rather than trus his young guns, many of whom have already played for Australia. Some coach!

I think he's taken your advice and cried to his mummy.

Sorry Jezz but that was a bad comeback.

Brisbane did whinge and change the rules and they still suit them. Notice how they made the preliminary final after losing a finals match after finishing 5th?

Rigged!

Willow, where'd you here about the Broncos wanting to extend their exclusivity agreement? Considering that Shane Edwards has publicly said that the Broncos would not oppose, though not agreeing with, the introduction of a second Brisbane team, I'm surprised to hear this.

By the way, Canadian Steve, ignore anything that Bryce has to say with regards to the Broncos (or anything else, for that matter). He is incapable of being objective, but I'm sure that you've already noticed that.
