- Bennett is the best coach in the game
While it's subjective, Bennet has been considered close to being the best coach in the game for, at least, the past decade. Nobody else can match that. - the best Qld players used to be "stolen" by NSW clubs. Now that they have the Broncos to play for, the Broncos are always one of the best teams. (Not sure if I have the history of that right)
Before state of origin (pre-1980), many of Queenslands best players went to NSW because their clubs were richer due to being backed by poker machines (which Qld clubs weren't). As a result, Qld would often get flogged by NSW in interstate matches, with much of the NSW side being made up of ex-Queenslanders. This all changed with state of origin, and in the time since, interstate football has been very competitive.
Since the introduction of the Broncos, many Qlders have been able to play in the premier competition without having to go to NSW. The Broncos have been a quality side ever since they entered the competition (1988) and have made the finals for the past ten years, winning five premierships. However, the vast majority of Broncos players have come through their development system, as opposed to being bought when they were already quality players.
- the Broncos only did poorly this season because of a terrible string of injuries.
The Broncos did have a lot of injuries and it, undeniably, had an effect on their season. In addition to this, a lot of the young players in the team failed to perform following the state of origin.
- before the first SOO game he told me there was a suspicious suspension of a Qld. player (or more) because the league favours NSW. He said that's been known to happen before
I think your friend is being paranoid.
