There could not have been anything more clunky or bumble fingered than the Morris twins when they debuted especially the great B Moz who was just shy of his 20th birthday and became the best winger in the world and proved more than capable in other positions.
Gould & Co used to take the piss out of them for all their horrible mistakes but now they are 33 we sit and wonder why they aren’t both in the Big Red V
Both turned out wonderful players at all levels of the game and in the meanwhile we want to deny a young man who has the same if not even greater potential
I know what a good coach would do with Ramsey thank god Mc Fookknuckle wasn’t coach when the Morris’s were young.
Yep, Gasnier and Cooper would never have got a run ahead of Aitken and Lafai. Creagh would have been left out in favour of Latimore.

The big issue is that if we do get a quick and efficient 1-5 on the paddock it will show up how average our halves and forwards actually are especially the halves.
IMO our forwards look good to us more for the fact that our backs are so ineffective rather than the forwards actually being as good as people think.
Our forwards are on par with all but the top 4 or so teams but that’s about it and if we had a good back line behind them then the halves will be the stumbling block.
In other words we are not a very well balanced or creative team and that is a direct reflection of the club itself.

I agree to a certain extent. But i believe this year, our forwards will surprise alot of people.
Host and Lawrie in the trials have played really well.
I know its only trials, but they ran hard and tackled hard.
Merrin i noticed still attracts 3 defenders every hit up, and we know he has an offload.
Kerr has shown he is growing in confidence.
Once Kerr and Korbin are back we will have a very good forward pack.
It will be our back 5 that ruin our season.
Give Ramsey a run at FB, put Lomax and Williame in the centres, and have either Rava and Saab or Rava and Pereira on the wings.
Ramsey sniffing around Merrin for an offload would be lethal.

I agree with everything you have said here.
It will absolutely be our back 5 that ruin the season.

1. Lomax - we will know over a few months what we have here.
2. Pereira - I would prefer Ramsey but let's see how he goes in CC.
3. Aitken - but I'd like to see Ravalawa get a go in the 3 jumper.
4. Williame - over Lafai, we need change.
5. Saab - is the logical choice. He will improve each game.
6. Norman - because Sailors defence is not up to first grade standard.
7. Clune - Hunt to hooker while McInnes is injured.
8. Merrin - we need a prop while Kerr and K Sims are out.
9. Hunt - while McInnes is out.
10. Vaughan
11. Ford - has loads of potential.
12. T Sims - we need his solid defence on the right edge.
13. Frizell - the logical choice right now.

14. Britain - our best option for the utility spot.
15. Laurie - needs to step up.
16. Blacker while Kerr and K Sims are out.
17. Host

If the Dragons wanted a speedy backline probably the best would be:-
Lomax
Saab
Williame
Sailor
Ramsay
Dufty
Hunt
I believe that this side would score plenty of tries.

If we're just talking about attack, I tend to agree except that I believe that Clune is a better attacking half back than Hunt- certainly better vision and passing game.

Tend to agree with Muzby about the defence however.

Redandwhite4ever I have no problem in Clune over Hunt as his combination with Williame and Pereira was electrifying in the Newcastle trial. I believe that improved defence could be sorted out in a few games. Mary seemed to base the attack on bruising forwards and mediocre backs. In 2019 the Dragons had lousy defence, non-existent attack and languished at second last.
If we pick a team that can score 4-5 tries per game I believe the defence and ball security will look after itself. No use having attacking backs if you do not use them to gain ascendancy.

We need tries to defend so if we get that combination of Clune, Williame and Pereira on the filed more often than not then we will have a good chance of winning our games. What is there to lose in trying this?

If you analyse the 1956-66,1977, 1979 and 2010 teams they all had brilliant attacking backs, solid creative halves and robust forwards. Solid forwards have been recruited but the backs development has been atrocious. There is now a chance to support Lomax, Saab, Williame, Sailor, Ramsey and Clune and offload serial non-performers such as Aitken, Lafai, Ravalawa and other backs who are error prone and do not pull their weight. We need backs and halves who have speed and can score length of the field tries.

Yep- I got many a thrill from Slippery Morris running 50 metres to score a runaway try-very often from a scrum. As the saying goes- speed kills. Dufty threatened to provide that sort of thrill from full-back but so many other aspects of his game disappoint. The same could be said for Field and I fear Sailor as well-mostly his defence. Hope I'm wrong about Sailor. I've probably got Wendell gunning for me already.

I don’t know the ins & outs of Club matters much, but I thought Head’s survival after apparently being another Waterboy bus casualty indicated the imposter’s Star was waning
Yep.

I thought he was punted, yet was pleasantly surprised to hear he survived and thought the same thing...
