Well said Kiwi... R&BK, go stir some soup with that wooden spoon.

It'd be an awesome game, and it's such a shame that there was never a Raiders-Broncos GF in the early 90's.

Stuart in 1993/1994 was at the peak of his powers, Daley was on fire in the 1994 finals series, Nadruku 22 tries in 93, Mullins and Croker 22 each in 1994... man was that a great team. Every player in that side was an international or Origin rep, easily the Raiders greatest club side.

I think we'd win :)

Anyway BACK on to the topic.

How good would it be to see Lockyer and Mullins go head to head.

Can anyone remember what the benches were?

I'm not a Canberra fan at all but I have to say I've never enjoyed watching a side as much as that Raiders team in 1994. The Stuart/Mullins combo was scintillating.

The closest thing I've seen to that level of entertainment was the Warriors in 2002/03.

I went with Bronco's 98. The backs look about equal but I think the bronc's have an advantage in the forwards.

Was the 10m rule introduced before 94?

10m rule was introduced mid season of 1993. (looking back that was a crazy thing to do!)

Fair point, Broncos have an awesome pack. However everyone under-rated the Raiders pack, especially Pongia and Lomax, and they were a masterstroke at the time from Sheens.

Any pack with Clyde in it as well is one to be feared, one of the great locks of all time.

Raider 94 by 8-12 IMO

As for Tigers 05 and Parra 01... both were awesome but neither were a shade on the two teams mentioned above

What you have to realise is that we are talking about Brisbane 1998...not 2005.
Webcke, Carroll, Thorn, Tallis, Petero, Gee....they were all early to mid 20s in those yrs. They were not slow...i assure you of that. Maybe Andrew Gee was, but his role wasnt to score tries.
Was Lomax, Osborne, and Pongia known as speed machines?????
Wendall, Lockyer, Hancock, Renouf...they were not slow back in 1998.
Darren Smith might have been off the pace, but i think he could have matched it with Mal Meninga.
So a rampaging tallis, agile lockyer, tackle busting TC...they were not threats in 1998? So it was all Walter and Langer and the rest were hacks?
I dont mind debate, but when you produce absolute dribble like what you said then i will call you a nuffy with NFI.
I never said they were hacks, or weren't threatening. Jeez calm down Charlie, you might give yourself a stroke!

Look dude, Croker, Furner, Walters were much quicker and more agile than Tallis, Gee and SMith. Osborne was a slug but only played about 10 games all year. I bet Lomax and Pongia had as much mobility as the BRoncos. Like you said, they weren't there to score tries.

Mal was slow off the mark but quick over the 100, quicker than most remember. Mullins quicker than LOckyer, Wendell and Noa, pretty close but maybe Dell? Renouf quicker than Wiki, but hey, Ruben was a power player (like Hancock), Bustling TC was a kid and not the player he is today IMHO, And Laurie was quicker than Kevvie, but again a different sort of player.
And to call me a nuffy Charlie, remember the doofus you named yourself after and then come and call me a nuffy.
(examines a pot and a pan and charlie...hmmm, all black)

Too evenly matched. Obviously i voted raiders. That broncos forward pack is the best i've ever seen but the daley/stuart/walters combo is more threatening than walters/langer/lee. The back 5 cancel each other out.

you said the only 2 players brisbane had that were threatening were Walters and Langer. Are you backing away from that now?
You go on and on about speed...why? How many tests did Oudenryan and Whereat play? They were bloddy quick.
Is speed the be all and end all of league? this is not the bloody olmypic games. Wendalll, Lockyer, Hancock, Deverer, and Renof were just fine as far as speed is concerned (stupid theory in itself)
TC was a bloody good player in 1998. Prob better then than now as he had youth on his side...should have won the clive churchill medal in 1998.
Do you remember Tallis in 1995 running 80m to score vs the warriiors?...out pacing Players like Sean Hoppe? That was only 3 yrs before 1998.
Speed

As for my name...i like the guy, he was a cult figure back in his day. Get over it...and while you are at it, get over your addiction to speed.
