Is it the fact that the media are not talking up your teams chances that means they are a forgotten threat ?
Anyone knows that they are a great chance to win the comp. Pretty sad state of affairs that a supporter needs the media to talk up a teams chances to make a supporter believe it. If you do believe they really are then this post would not be in existance.
not necessarily Broncos supporters here
But it reflects how things have changed in the last 5 years that the Broncos are not the first name that rolls off the tongue when talking of premiership contenders....
we won in 2000
we bowed out 24 - 16 at Prelim Final stage in 2001 to hot Parra
within a try of GF in 2002
led the comp for 17 rounds in 2003
and are second thus far in 2004
not the first name that rolls off the tongue when talking premiership contenders ?
I would have thought it was more a reflection of the Sydneycentrics being satisfied (or mesmerised) by that highly successful juggernaut the Roosters who despite "all their success" have won 1 premiership in 30 years.
I laugh at your "how things have changed"
Oink !
Not a Sydney-sider here a Kiwi.
Your myopic us against them Qld attitude is amusing.
But to be blunt, Brisbane fell away awfully last year. And despte their record in the last 5 years being impressive by other club's standards, it's not impressive compared with their standards of the early 90s.
To be blunt, until Lockyer shifted, they have been poor in the halves. The much heralded young forwards like Meyers, Carlaw, Parker, Webb etc have not come on as expected. the loss of Thorn was huge, and the team relies heavily on the likes of Webcke, Tallis, and Civo.
To Bennett's credit, retiring from Origin was a good move, and shifting Lockyer tp 5/8 a masterstroke which was questioned/criticised early in the season...
Like I said - before the season, I would have said - Penrith, Roosters, Newcastle or Canterbury (with the Dragons unpredictable).
Now Bisbane are in the 4 which I can't split, and due to injuries Newcastle are goooone.
