Giants and Wildcats agree a loan swap

Written by: James Brammer

Huddersfield Giants and Wakefield Wildcats today announced that they have agreed a swap deal that sees Giants Prop Michael Korkidas join the Wildcats on loan until the end of the season and Wildcats Prop Danny Sculthorpe join the Giants on loan until the end of the season.
Korkidas a former Wakefield player, having joined the Wildcats in 2003 from Sydney Roosters and established himself as a crowd-favourite, making 109 appearances for the club before joining Salford City Reds in 2006.
Giants Head Coach Nathan Brown said:
”We are really pleased for Michael that this opportunity has cropped up for him in first grade as its where its best for him to be playing week in week out. Danny Sculthorpe offers us different traits in the front row to what we have already got and whilst it’s sad to see Korky move on as he is very popular here with everyone it will, I am sure, benefit both clubs and both players.”
Wildcats Head Coach John Kear said “We are delighted that Michael will be returning to the club, he was here when I first joined the club and he was sad to leave back then, so we are delighted to have signed him for the rest of the season and look forward to getting him back into a Wildcats shirt.”
The move takes effect immediately, with both players joining up with their new team-mates and will be available for their club’s next engage Super League fixture.

hehe no I wouldn't do that. I might see if I can move it to the ESL forum though.

Today's Collins desk calendar quote says "it is not merely the trivial which clutters our lives but the important as well"... so... Slippery was there something Saints-related you wanted to discuss regarding this article or is it cool for me to move it out

Huddersfield Giants have easily got the better of this deal, Sculthorpe is a ball playing prop who will excel in a good Giants side under a good coach whereas, Korkidas is and will always struggle to find any consistency at all, except for being consistently average.

i used to play with scully when we were kids...so i think i'm allowed to say he's never quite forfilled his huge potential..

he played for england 'A' against australia in 2003 iirc and absolutely destroyed the aussie pack..

i agree with that fact that the giants have got the betta end in this one no dought, and i think sculthorpe will add alot to the huddersfield pack. korkidas is a good player and with a new enviroment we might see a completly different player. i think that at the end of the year they'll make these trades officall.. wat do use think??

I think so mate, some of the things Scully has been saying about Wakefield aren't all that complimetary so i think it will be made permanent.

in that case good pick up for giants.
and for wakefield its not a bad signing for them either.
i still think a couple more signings in the forwards
and they'll be a real threat they already have good
