Spoke to him yesterday.

Appears set that he is going to sign with us.

Appears to be a min-contract deal.

Not a bad signing. Will be in line for a bench spot or provide depth.

Not a bad signing at all Mick,

Mick have you heard any whispers about Brian Noble coming over, seems the rumour is coming out of the UK

He and Joseph Paulo can fight it out for Pritchards vacated spot in the backrow.

Both have whopping potential that is largely unrealized. His game against Panthers this season showed how good Gordon can be - 130 metres, 1 linebreak, 2 try assists, 5 tackle breaks.

will spend his time pulling on a windsor jersey

So what...its experienced depth with potential to be good.

As Mack said..he'll likely fight it out with Paulo.

BTW he is a really nice guy too.

Whether he ends up here or not I dunno...but he seems to think this is his likely destination.

f**k. Another nuffie.

God damn.

Far out Realist...seriously.

Who do we have in the backrow for next year? Noone.

We have no depth.

Here we are getting a guy that is still only about 25 years old...has played substantial first grade...has made an impact in the grade and more than likely will play reserve grade as a depth player.

How is that bad?

Far out I honestly think sometimes...you just bitch for the sake of bitching.

Sometimes...well...most of the time...I agree with most of what you say...but when you just flat out come out with that sh*t...without knowing anything about the player more than likely...its just garbage.

On a side note...I wonder how long before someone is on PI saying "I've heard we've signed Buddy Gordon..is there any truth to this" lol

Is PI worth the trouble? All I hear about it is how regulated it is. I think I have an account but I havent used it since I signed up.

Its fine.

Sure sometimes the mods get a bit over the top but if you provide reasonable crticism and can back it up...its fine. But as long as if someone proves you wrong you acknowledge it.

EG I've been hammering Smith for years...but this year I really saw the impact he has made and I've really turned on him to be a believer in him.

To an extent I agree with the Realist. We need depth but we can't sign only 7-8 depth players we need a decent ball playing 2nd rower to replace Pritchard

Yeah so what do we do if there is nothing available?

Adam Blair maybe...but he doesn't want us.

Eastwood doesn't want us...

So where to after that.

You bring in depth to rotate around...its the only way you can do it.

Its a mute point to say "oh we need someone to replace pritchard...Buddy Gordon isn't that". No sh*t. But he wouldn't be signed for that purpose.

He would be signed as depth for the starting backrow. Something we desperately need.

Don't get me wrong a couple of depth players is good we need that Gordon is more then handy. Keep it!! Even only 200k and use that for 2012 Gareth Hock can sign in June sometime hit the rest of UK.

It would be very stupid to spend it just because we have it and pay overs for rubbish. Front end load certain contracts and go full tilt for 2012

That's what I'm saying.

Buy enough depth to deal. Frontload our stars deals and make an attack in 2012...with potentially Petero's money as well + an increase in salary cap.

I can see us spending everything on 4 more Buddy's. A few Purtell's bang money wasted no one comes on we struggle

It was pretty evident when House and Pritchard got injured that season 2010 was over for us.

I've been a bit of a critic of Nathan Smith over the years, but I have definately seen improvement in his game in the 2nd half of the 2010 season. In saying that, I don't think we should be paying him $250k a season. Perhaps if he was on what he should be, we could have offered Pritchard the dollars he wanted to get him to stay.

I am still having trouble coming to terms with us winning Matts, Ball and Flegg a few years ago, but haven't been able to capitalise on all this talent and ability. Harry Seijka isn't the answer either.

The thing Smith has is defences don't concentrate on him much and seem to worry more about the guys outside of him. Sadly if he is a starting 12 that won't be the case tbh he offers nothing in attack to scare opposition defences and will prob be shut down easily apart from running good lines not really an intimidating forward.

I wonder that also fibro. 06 HM, Ball. JF won. 2007 JF won. From those teams only Coote, Jennings, Masada, Grant, McKendry and Paulo remain it was clear we had talent yet the fools let them go shameful

We have some good go forward, but don't have the structure in our game plan to get the ball to the likes of Jennings and Coote on tackle #4 with a bit of space in front of them. We also have far too much one out stuff with not enough players in motion.

Walsh has a good short kicking game, but his general kicking is only average at best. Elliott needs to look at another option for a kicker in general play.

I get frustrated when quality out> Quality in. I prefer Cooper and Smith to this bloke and I don't rate either Cooper or Smith.

Penese is leaving and so is Maurice Blair and both are better players even as pure backrowers. I've seen enough of Yileen Gordon playing for the bunnies - he was different shades of terrible. The Dog's - he was better but still a 'lesser' player in a pack that was quite frankly - sh*t.

What concerns me even more is that Elliot believes the Panthers is an instrument for his own Charity cause - and he gives nuffie players an extended run even when they are clearly inferior to others on the roster. He has done this with Smith for years now - even though he has no impact and is abit of a nuffie starting player but the proof is Purtell.

He has also preferred guys like Burns, Walsh, Cooper over superior players like Sammut, Graham etc.

Also Elliot does not seem to believe in backrowers he has cleaned out plenty during his time with us. I believe a line busting backrower is critical to a premiership run - Elliot doesn't seem to. We are a production line of second rowers and yet he has brought in some terrible ones whilst kicking out plenty of good ones e.g. Shane Rodney - who is heaps better than Smith or Cooper.

Personally Yileen could be the nicest guy in the world but you just have to look past that and look at raw effectiveness. This bloke isn't ever going to be a consistent 1st Grader unless he gets 'special' Elliot treatment - and I fear for us if he does....
