Eh? You cant blame the coach when we are going poorly and then not give credit when we are going well. Mary has no doubt made adjustments. He has spoken at length about utilising a power game etc etc. Understand if you don't like Mary but credit where it is due. We are sitting 3rd on the table despite losing our playmaker and form player of the comp for several rounds and our fullback and arguably best player for a few rounds

We have gone from the worst attacking side in the NRL to the best. Mcinnes and Vaughn have no doubt been huge in this development but they didnt do it all themselves.

Just waiting to see if Patten is going to be in the Bunker with Peranara refereeing before I make a final call, but I think we have this in a tight one in another lifeless, empty ANZ stadium. It's a blight on our great game that Patten continues to be allowed to officiate in grubs games. It's a bit like Pauline Hanson being immigration Minister.
I really hope Frizz plays and Field is on the bench instead of Milne. This is a game Field could run riot in a big slow opposition pack, out of form halves and aging backs.
Otherwise, in Mary we trust. He needs to get the squad pumped for a Monday night showing we're not used to.

Did you see that "punch" Garvey landed? I'm pretty sure Garvey threw a handbag that just clipped the Panthers player. I wish he was playing if he punches like that, they'd be down to 12 and Dugan's jaw wouldn't even feel a thing.

Lawrie and Kerr have formed a good front row combo and are playing good minutes with Illawarra but unless they actually need to they should leave them where they are.

With Packer moving on one if not both will see time in first grade next year after a good solid season in the NSW Cup to toughen them up.

Sele had a solid year for Illawarra last year and it shows also Host and big luc have been playing well and would be conisdered first and should be.

I don't understand why we can't just give everyone a go ffs.
I've coached for many years in soccer, cricket and even netball for my kids teams and I gave everyone a go, even the really bad ones at my own kids expense.
A bit like Mary did with Marketo last year and McCrone now.
McCrone's had his gold star award and we should let the other kids have a turn or it's just not fair.

Yep, saw the Garvey 'punch' mate, it was a joke. My comment was tongue in cheek. I was kinda hoping Garvey would play us and have a go at Packer, JDB or McInnes.

Yeah agree . I haven't seen as much of Illawarra as you but Laurie seems to be a bit ahead of of Kerr at this stage . And also agree re big Luc he seems to be getting better and better by the week .

This year we play well, with a couple of personnel changes but the coach has nothing to do with it? You must have been a fly on the wall in the meeting between players and Mary where he apparently just sat back, accepted whatever the players dictated and then listened to them while they planned every training session for the year. And even if somehow that's the way it played out - Mary would actually deserve even more credit, because that's what great 'leaders' do - empower their team/staff while having enough self awareness not to dictate to ultimately get the result. Though I don't think Mary is yet a great leader and nor do I think he has nothing to do with the attacking change.

Possm is just upset and sulking now. He thought that there was a new coach coming. He said it in about 1000 posts before he season. He said that was why Hunt signed. Thats why Possm has kinda lost the plot now and just making less and less sense. He is sulking like a kid that didn't get his way.
He knows its over. Nobody is coming. Nobody ever was. Its just Mary and Milward and the MESS....

Slippery you need to understand the intent of my post.
I think it will be a tough game and we can win it.
When I question Mary or the club or say we could do better people say that I am negative and that our position on the table etc is proof that I am wrong in my judgement of Mary, selection policy etc.
I then get the shits when they hedge their bets and start to offer reasons as to why it will be tough and why we might lose.
If they truly believe in Mary etc and the things they offer as proof to our reformation then the game should not be in doubt for them and I would respect them much more.
Simple if they have doubts then that's fine but don't question mine.

I have said that we continue our march towards September.
Itll clearly be a very tough game given that the dogs will be hurting and history says that sides bounce back from that but I am confident that we will be too good for them. Because we are the real deal Sir, you do not see it as yet but you will.

Also, its not a monday night game, its a public holday monday afternoon game! We love the public holiday games!

Host is a long minute workhorse player, and will develop into a very good one. He's not an impact player in the same vein as Leilua or Sele.

No idea why everyone's made it there agenda in here, to shit on him now. He's going to be a key component in our forward pack within the future and is an absolute workhorse.

All teams need a player who will do the hard work. Tackle, run lines and take hits.

Gillett, Yeo, Whitehead, Aubersson and Lawrence are of similar moulds. All key players in their team.

An in amongst it all some want to buy Klemmer (24) Johnstone (22) Lodge (22) and forget all of our own.
I agree that Host is a beauty and should be getting game time but as he is not flashy he will be very sparingly used by our coach.
As i said in another post "how did Klemmer get so good at such a young age ?" Simple they put in 1st grade at 19 and stuck with him as they had the vision to see what he could become.
