Hello Parra Fans are we a hated team or a like team amongst the other nrl sides I refer to what this bulldog fan wrote to me..here it is and please answer my question are we or arnt we hated by other teams. Here we go

The Super League war came and Parramatta was right in the middle of the money madness spending $9million dollars on buying back the premiership with four key players from Canterbury the main signings. Parramatta's multi-million dollar investment came close on two occasions to paying off but both times fell at the final hurdle. In 1998, they led Canterbury, incidently the team they spent millions on weakening 18-2 with ten minutes to go before a Craig Polla-Mounter inspired comeback crushed the Eels 32-20 after extra time to see the Bulldogs make the grand final. In 1999, they took a 16-6 lead against Melbourne into half-time but the Storm, the eventual premiers scored two tries in the second half as the Eels crumbled again. The Eels made a great charge in the 2000 Finals but once again fell one game short with the Broncos hanging on for a sweet victory.Parramatta completely dominated the 2001 season except for the only game that mattered. Parramatta smashed every record in sight and statistically were the best performed team for many seasons but when the crunch came Newcastle dominated the decider to win 24-0.The fallout from the 2001 disaster was gradually felt as the Eels started to decline over the next three seasons where they missed the Finals in 2003 and bombed out after just

We are pretty hated tbh - more then people realise.

The reason the Eels get so many TV games is that the general Rugby League population is polarised. They either watch to see us win, or watch to see us belted.

The 2 obvious questions that must be asked are:

1) Why are you getting letters from Bulldog supporters?

2) When did Bulldog supporters learn how to write?

Manly and the Bulldogs are hated way more than us, and then we have the new contenders the Storm.

Yes we are hated. A lot of Parramatta fans don't realize it, but oh yeah league fans hate our guts.

Be it for Fitzy comments of the past, or the way our fans who don't show their colours until we are winning show up. I have heard tell it is the attitude of Parramatta fans, the expecting to win, not hoping to win, being seen as Parramatta fans are arrogant.

Having said that, yes we also have a very large fan base. With so many kids growing up in 80's either supporting Canterbury or Parramatta, the majority of those kids would still today have a deep seeded love of the club, however Canterbury have continued that success and to a point we have not (as in not captured the major prize). I would say our Fan base could be on a Par with the Dogs.

I have always said though, when we talk about Super League, if Parramatta and the Dragons defected at the time, Rugby League today would be a vastly different landscape.
