My team for next year:

1. Patten - The key is consistency, coming of his best year to date, how will he play in 07?
2. El Masri - At 31, this could be his last year in the blue & white jumper.
3. Millard - The number 1 signing for the club in 07, very strong in defence and should get first crack at the number 3 jumper.
4. Tonga - Will be the X-Factor in 07, when fit he is one of the best backs in the game.
5. Utai - In his contract year so im expecting a massive season from Matty.
6. Holdsworth - Will there be any 2nd year syndrome from this whiz kid?
7. Sherwin - He is a big game player who needs to step up his game in the regular season.
8. O'Meley - Needs to get fitter! Sherk had a dissapointing year and failed to stand up when needed.
9. Hughes - True bulldog who is very important to our team.
10. Mason - Will most likely move to front row to replace Roy and allow SBW to start.
11. Williams - Will be demanding a starting spot in his contract year.
12. Ryan - Lacks the leadership ability to be put in the same class as Steve Price.
13. Maitua - Has great strength and break-tackle ability. Will only improve in 07.

14. Perry - We need a backup hooker off the bench cause Hughes cant play the 80mins, who else we got?
15. Te Maari - Watch out for this kid, could prove to be the impact player we need off the bench.
16. Armit - One of the most underrated players at the club. Could very well turn out to be the next Steve Price.
17. Hickey - Being comparerd to former captain Darren Britt, in his first year of 1st grade he showed signs of a player of the future however he just gets injuries and suspensions at the wrong time.

Key Backups -

Ben Roberts - Is our number one backup for the half - 5/8 role.

Andrew Emelio - Will be our number one backup Wing / Center for 07.

Kane Cleal - Has plently of aggression and can quite well force his way into 1st grade.

Dallas Mcilwain - Signed a one year extension this year. Could be a make or break year for him.

Billy Ngawini - If he works on his defence he could challenge Perry for the bench spot.

1 Patten -Mr consistency, showed great confidence and improved attack this year
2 El-Masri - Started 06 in great attacking form hopefully will do so again
3 Emilio - Wasn't a fan when i first saw him but he should go beter after a strong finish last season, will have Millard and Mcnichol breathing down his neck
4 Tonga -hopefully a full season will have him back in the rep sides.
5 Utai -Wasn't at his best this year but with more pressure from new recruits should do well
6 Holdsworth -Won't have as strong an offseason due to injury but has shown plenty of potential
7 Sherwin/Roberts - Sherwins always been a favorite but Roberts will exert pressure if shifty doesn't step up.
8 Ogre -What can i say that his performance doesn't
9 Hughes/Perry/Ngawini - probably most critical of Hughes after his poor discpline mid year and its nearly time to change the guard IMO
10 Armit -Held out the ogre last year so should train hard over the offseason. Otherwise id like to see Mason or Hickey step in for the monster factor (Kleal could be an outsider too)
11 Williams -Time for him to start or lose him otherwise Mason
12 Ryan -very consistent and the captaincy almost guarantees it.
13 Maitua -Has been a favorite for a long time and deserves to make lock his own. Otherwise Williams.

Id adjust the bench according to who makes the side. At this stage it's hard to say but im keen to see how we cope with the loss of Asotasi and Myles. Impressed with the fact that TeMaari and Kleal both came to the dogs looking for contracts though and with commitment from them both the dogs should turn their potential into talent. The trials will give me more of an idea on it

Hmmm. I did leave Mason as a second option without noticing actually thanks for pointing that out. Id probably want him as a starting prop in Armits place. Mason's publicly stated that he prefers the second row though so i might push Williams back to the bench as he is probably the best impact forward we have in my opinion. Despite us losing the two best props on the market last season we're still embarrassingly rich in forwards.

Sherwin is a joke and should be dropped, holdsworth is more than capable of taking over.

Hughes should be dropped, most dirty playing player in the game.

Give Roberts the halfback spot, he impressed me greated from centre, havent seen alot of his kicking game yet.

Looks a strong Bulldogs side this coming season, Young bench but they should handle it.
