Rather than turn every thread this week into Bulldogs v Roosters debates (as we see with Souths v Roosters), I thought i'd make a place where all articles can go in the lead up to the big clash. Heres the first one:

EXCLUSIVE

The Bulldogs must decide just how co-operative they want to be with the enemy ahead of Friday night's blockbuster against the Roosters after receiving an unprecedented request from Brad Fittler for his players to be allowed to train at ANZ Stadium this week.

The Sun-Herald can reveal the Roosters have fired off an official application to new Bulldogs chief executive Todd Greenberg, who starts his new job in the hot seat tomorrow, to hold a session at Homebush Bay before the most bitter and eagerly anticipated game of the year.

The Dogs are under no obligation to oblige - and so far they haven't.

"Our position is that being the home club, we have no responsibility to say yes," Greenberg told The Sun-Herald.Controversial Rooster Willie Mason will battle against his former club for the first time in the clash. With the Dogs setting aside a selection of prime seats and corporate facilities for the Roosters, early dialogue between the clubs had been cordial, but Greenberg said the training request was a more complex issue that could be rejected.

"This is arguably the game of the year and our preparations come first," he said. "We haven't locked in our training schedules for the week and once we have done that, we may find that we are unable to squeeze the Roosters in.

"We are the home club and the home-ground advantage is there for a reason. If the Roosters want to come and train in our domain they might just happen to find that [Bulldogs coach] Steve Folkes and [assistant coach] Kevin Moore happen to have scheduled a coffee overlooking the ground at the same time."

Fittler's query was lodged by Roosters marketing manager Richard Fisk.

"We are investigating to see whether we can train on their ground," Fisk said. "We want to know if it's available. It will be very interesting to see whether they agree to it or not. There's been the joint promotion of the game with seating so far but this is a test for them about whether they're fair dinkum about co-operation."

NRL chief operating officer Graham Annesley said the Bulldogs were free to snub the Roosters.

IMO f**k the roosters. They would never let another team train on the SFS before a game, and they didn't ask Souths before Rd 1, as they knew they'd most likely get rejected. They're trying to make us look like the weak ones here. Good to see that Greenberg appears to have made up his mind on the matter, and it doesn't look like we're gonna let them train there. Roosters think they run the NRL or something :sarcasm: And as for Roosters using the whole "its a test for them about whethere they're fair dinkum about co-operation" that just proves my point about them thinking they run the NRL. We gave them some great seats at the game in an attempt to promote the game to the fans and its still not enough for them.

Bryan Parnell will be screaming the house down at Willie Mason during the grudge match between the Bulldogs and Roosters. The reason for his anger? He named his son after the departed Bulldogs hero.

Mason will tackle his former club at ANZ Stadium, Homebush Bay, on Friday and Parnell hopes Bulldogs enforcer Sonny Bill Williams belts him.

"To not only lose one of your best players, but the man I had named my son after - I was filthy," Parnell said. "I really want him to go out and get smashed."

Mason Parnell was born in August 2006.

Im going for the Dogs because I dislike the Roosters junior development priorities, but I think the Roosters will win.

Now who needs a tissue? Not you, you need a few pads instead.

By the way, I never mentioned anything about junior bases, but I think its wrong to get rid of a player that was at the club for ages (Chris Flannery) in favour of an outsider (Mark O'Meley).

Flannery was offered overs from england and he had just suffered a season ending injury.. The club also had Mitchell Aubusson who is very much in the Flannery mould but almost 10 years younger.. what would you do?

Flannery isnt the only example of the Roosters not remaining loyal to their players. Soward and Wing for example.

To be honest, id rather not get into this, im not a fan of either club, Im just stating who im supporting for this match and why and Id rather not be critisised by little minded Rooster fans (and I dont mean you Slippers) because of my opinion.

Tezza, you started it and then you say you don't want to get into an argument and then end it with a 'little minded rooster fans comments'? If you want to hit and run so be it. Anyway Wing was offered a contract and rejected it for an over the top offer. I don't like the way Soward was treated either. I'm happy he's found a home. Flannery was given an offer he couldn't refuse.
We didn't want to lose Morley, Cayless or Crocker and the like but hey, you can't keep everybody.
Regardless what you think of us you're gonna witness a great game with lots of hate, passion and hate. God I love this game!

Thats right dogs......

Build this game up like a massive grudge match all week. Pump yourselves up for a huge, spiteful affair, and talk it up in the media.

That way we can just steam roll you like we did the bunnies

:?

The two players who did that in our team wear your colours now

Mason will be in the media all week... culminating in an appearance on TFS on Thursday to have a go at SBW.

I think we will all see the media whores for who they truly are this week.

Anything less than 30-35k for this game is a major disappointment IMO... biggest club match in years.

Um, as with the 04 GF.... STFU and GTFO if you don't like it.

Or cheer for the referee.... wonder which of the "big three" (lol) will get it... Hampstead Archer or Kevin Shayne Hayne...

There has been quite a few disappointing crowds when it comes to games involving the dogs in recent years, hasn't there??

Souths last year (which involved free tickets), first round this year..... just seems the fans stay away for some reason. Must be all the crowd trouble (which apparently happens everywhere).

The dogs have done well though in reserving an entire area for roosters fans on a different level to the scum on the concourse. Admitting your fans are the problem is the first step.

BTW Timmah, do you still think that Mason is not playing well enough at the roosters??
