Burt's best year

This year must be Burt's best ever. That field goal was brilliant and effectively put the nail in the Dragons' coffin. (Until of course Hayne decided a stake through the heart was also needed. :D)

No other winger in the comp has the kicking game of Luke Burt. A sublime performance.

I am so happy for him. Proved many people (including me) wrong.

agree, on the wing too like i've been saying for ages.

Man, even if we beat GC the Bulldogs game will be tough, however a calm come over me whilst at the warriors game this year that suggested that this is our year - never had that feeling before.

He's got vision, positioning, communication and shows leadership. Hayne-freak aside, Burt is our form back and has been all season.

No way he'll be benched or demoted from the backline next season when Tahu comes aboard, mark my word.

I thought the pat on the head from Burt to Sailor was also priceless. Also my son Reilly, is so stoked that Luke(his fav player) and the Eels won for him on his 5th B'Day. Well done to the boys for making my little boys B'day one I hope he remembers for a while to come.:D:clap::clap:

Im thinking Grothe to the back row. But after that intercept, I just dont know what DA should do. Id hate to say it, but after the entire year, Inu is the 5th ranked back we have.

Respect for Burt. no mistakes, defence is good and he has his goal kicking back. That field goal from 42m out was one of the best. The ball kept travelling after the posts so he could have got it from 50m. Great stuff Burt!!

I thought burt's field goal was more of a match winner than hayne's try. fantastic kick from 40 out.

To be fair, probably Grothe's intercept try was the match winner.
If Mateo hadn't thrown that brain explosion pass, then the Dragons wouldn't have scored more than 8.

Burt's field goal was the icing on the cake.

Hayne's try was the generous serving of ice-cream to go with the cake!

Luke Burt is an absolute f**king legend of this club!!!

If he is not the best field goal kicker in the comp then who is.

And watch that first try on replay to see how good Burty is at sniffing out a try. He was standing on his wing when the bomb went up - and he bolted infield and arrived just as Morts took the ball. Brilliant anticipation.

There will always be an argument over the big athlete vs the footballer. You can keep big units like Jamal Idris and give me a footballer like Luke anyday.

Always been a Burt man, he's a special to notch his 100th try on friday night.

I'd also agree that as it stands Inu is our weakest link in the backline, BUT you'd have to give him a shot at wing outside of Tahu. Tahu will elevate Inu's game without a doubt. In saying that i find it difficult to see how Grothe would play any position other than wing. Does he have the footy brain to defend closer in? Can he still be as damaging carrying the ball if he has to make 20+ tackles a game as well?

It's Grothe's utter lack of versatility that just might keep him in the starting 13.

How good is he going???? Having a corker of a season, he and Hayne have struck up a deadly combo at the back.
