Sharks lose Seymour for finals

September 17, 2008
SHARKS five eighth Brett Seymour will miss next Friday's preliminary NRL final and is expected to be ruled out for the season after sustaining a knee injury during training at Toyota Stadium on Tuesday.

Seymour is scheduled to undergo an arthroscope on the knee on Friday, however indications are that he could also require reconstructive surgery to repair the ligament damage.

Sharks coach Ricky Stuart, at a team training camp at Kiama, said Seymour's injury was a major blow to the team.

"I feel sorry for Brett. He'd been playing very well and was a big part of why our attack had improved in recent weeks. He'll be a big loss for us," Stuart said.

A potential replacement for Seymour has yet to be determined.

It's the second major loss for the Sharks in the crucial playmaker's role in recent weeks with Greg Bird stood down late last month after an alleged assault on his girlfriend.

The Sharks will play the winner of Saturday's match between Brisbane and Melbourne.

Nooooo !!!! You are kidding ... we definitely are cursed.

Without a decent instinctive ball player on one side ... who can ignore Noddy's endless calls ... we are completely stuffed. Talk about a worst case scenario !!!

On a different note, I have to say I really do feel for Buster. He is one of the main reasons we are 1 game away from the GF. His form has been outstanding and it will be a damn shame if we make the GF and Buster isn't able to play. He deserves to be there.
So I'll say it:

Thanks Buster for the quality football you have played this season so far, you have been a joy to watch and I seriously hope you take further part this year.

Ask me who is the first bloke whose name I wanted to read out for the next game?

Brett Seymour.

That's what this lifelong Shark supporter thinks of the bloke and his importance to our team.

He did more for our attack than Bird.

Shattered.
