Don't know if this has been thrown up yet, but over the last few years the term "Buy of the Year" as been thrown around so much that the player has almost been given an award.

So make a prediction who do you think will be the "Buy of the Year" in 2004? and we will do a progress assesment of some of the players after about 10 weeks of the season.

I think Aaron Cannings will be right up there.

If he can find some of his previous form Russell Richardson could be a good pick up for the Knights, at 25K he is a steal.

Amos Roberts - we got him for peanuts

He'll get a go when someone gets injured in the backs. Aaron Barba is a smokey.

Aaron Cannings Cost the Eels 230k a season. Unless he reaches Representative football, he won't be the buy of the Season.

I can see-
Motu Tony
Chris Hicks
Mick Monaghan
Luke O'Donnell
Eric Grothe

All having the Potential to be the buy of the Season

In terms of what he could offer to the club, Travis Norton is a great buy for us as is Sarge. But they both cost us a bit so dollar for dollar, others will probably be better value.

We got both Mark Dalle Cort and Steve Southern from the Dragons juniors and both are named in this weekend's FG trial so they could be good value. They add much needed depth to our forwards.

Last year, RA would've been hard to beat for the difference he made to our side, David Myles, a cast-off from the Warriors who played evry FG game for us, would've been a candidate for value buy of the year.

Michael Monaghan at Manly. He will be a standout.

Scott Sattler will do wonders for the Tigers

Motu Tony should be good too.

Travis Norton at the Cowboys. If he doesn't cop any serious injuries, he could make the biggest impact. He's a classy player that probably didn't get a chance to get into full stride at the Bulldogs. Don't get me wrong, he was an absolute gem for us, and a huge loss, but I think he's got plenty more to offer than what we've seen. Hopefully Graeme Murray will know how best to use him.

Tony Martin. Wouldn't mind having a quick $5er on him being top point scorer. Try scoring machine, goal kicking king.

Travis Norton adds truck loads to the Cowboys, truckloads. In terms of young buys, I have a feeling if given a chance Steve Turner could be invaluable for the Storm.
