You can hire the early 60s movie "This Sporting Life" which starred Richard Harris. Its about a coal miner who becomes a rugby player.

My band is playing ( for free) at the Oatley Hotel tonight ( fri 24) .

You can watch the footy without the dulcit tones of Gould.

Instead you'll be bombarded with inept interpretations of other people's songs
and songs that you've never heard before.......
but sound suspiciously like something you have heard at some point.

Barring that you can catch a play at the cat and whistle pub in Balmain called "Sweet Pheobe".
It starts at 8.00pm and goes for an hour.
It is piss funny with an emotional twist about a high flying corporate couple who mind a dog
for some friends who are at a relationship workshop.
I saw it last night.

They have buy one schooner and get one for free on Friday nights. The footy is on the real big screen.
So when the play is finished you can watch the rest of the footy.
For those of you who loved the play they have a second one after sweet pheobe but I didn't stay to see that one.
Its on Sat as well.

Or all weekend out at homebush they have the fishing and 4wd show..Im going tomorrow
before I introduce myself to the game of AFL.
