To be fair Munster has done more at rep level in his single game than any of the NSW halves since Joey. Maloney is good but he's the only established spine player and hes not Thurston or Cronk level good.

Both teams will have brand new hookers. Both will have atleast one new half. Both will have a formerly great fullback in average form.

For once things are just even. NSW should win due to being more experienced at mediocrity.

In 2014 when half the Australian side was missing, most notably Thurston and Slater, Cronk was outright average that entire series and Australia ended up losing. I was interested to see how he'd do at the Roosters without those players and surprise surprise he's been nothing but ordinary.

Thurston too is a product of having a great team beside him, I mean last year they managed to go all the way to the big one without him there.

Having said all that, comparing Maloney to Thurston is too far, comparing him to Cronk is a bit more accurate. Thurston is probably the best player to lace em up since Joey Johns.

Anyone saying Hunt at 9 is purely basing it off the stint he had for us last year because nothing else about the bloke says "play me at hooker", we have to go with McCullough in my view, we need someone who can make 50 tackles a game and not fall off.. we pick Hunt at 9, it will be a mess

Next QLD captain should be Greg Inglis, the other options have too many question marks.

Matt Scott- at the end of his career

Billy Slater- ditto

Darius Boyd- would be a prospect but the timing is all wrong with his form down and his only chance of selection on the wing. I just can't see it happening.

Inglis isn't a spring chicken either at 31, but probably buys QLD time to groom a long-term successor. .

I'm disgusted at some of what I've read here from Queensland supporters, I'm sure you were all fine until you found out, I'm sure he was a legend until you read the news.
What more do you want from a player? 42 Origins, 56 Tests and future immortal, and deservingly so.
The timing might seem odd to most but think about it. I'm sure at his age it's tough to get up week in week out and produce the quality football that he has consistently.
IMO he's had a good hard think about it, remembered how tough the Origin period is on the mind and body and decided he just doesn't want to put himself and family through it one more time. Yes, it would have been nice to see him play and hopefully finish up in a winning series and do the lap of honour, but so be it.

I applaud you Cam on what you have done for Rugby League over your career so far, especially in the representative arena, congratulations to you!!

So who do we have to fill the void? Andrew McCULLOUGH, Jake GRANVILLE, James SEGEYARO, Kurt BAPTISTE (highly doubtfull)
I just hope they pick a specialist dummy half.

Oh and I won't be surprised if Morgan has the (c) next to his name.
