I think their forwards were rubbish last year and McInnes copped the flack.
Our forwards have been going great and he has time to do his thing.
I have been impressed so far.
Some of the Souffs fans have a warped view of what a current day hooker is suppose to do. McInnes provides good, quick and accurate ball to our big pigs who have been able to get a roll on. This has led to some more time and space for our backs with which we have seen some improvement.

McInnes is great, and we have good depth in the hooker department.

Right now we need to find a good five-eighth for 2018 and I don't think Widdop is the man. In fact I feel the Dragons should let him go.

If Dugan stays, the only spine player we need is a 6.

Those comments that Rein made about not being able to progress his development/reach his potential at the Dragons is complete bullshit. Look at Mcinnes. It's round 4 and a lot of people already have him in their Origin teams, out of nowhere.
Rein was just awful from the beginning, there was never any "potential" to reach. He was just filthy that he couldn't get a contract upgrade at the Dragons and now as a result of him overestimating himself, he will see out his career in NSW Cup.

Mcinnes has proved a lot of us wrong and i'm so chuffed that he has. What a competitor.

Spot on tom.
He is also a leader at training always leads the way and pushes the other guy.

The Jury is still out and its dangerously early days but so far there are a few things better this year than last year.
1. McInnes, finally a hooker who does his job and distributes with vision
2. Vaughan, he looks to be the real deal
3. Attitude, seems to have picked up, the players seem happy.

If Newcastle go after Jack Bird to play 5/8, I hope we go after Brock Lamb. Though Brown has an amazing eye for talent. If the reports are true about Newcastle chasing Bird, I can't understand why he wouldn't want to stick with Lamb.

I highly doubt Newcastle would let Lamb go. Rather, he would end up in the 7 and Hodko would probably be out the door.

In any case, if we are going for youth or development in the 6 we are better off sticking with Mann or Field.

If we play field and dufty we gain speed but lose defense. Too small.
So who is Millward going to rely on to play at 1 and 6 next season. You'd think a bit more thought would be put into this. It's really easy:
McCrone to the bench, Mann to 6 and Widdop to 7 for three weeks
McCrone to the bench, Field to 6 and Widdop to 7
During SOO Dufty to 1.

There is a massive difference between Reins and McInness talent levels with McInness being far superior with a higher ceiling. But I do agree with Rein on this one. Had he had decent coaching, he could've been a much better player then what eventuated. Look at how several of our other players have regressed. Could you imagine how good Frizzell, JDB etc. would be under decent tutelage?

Maybe he could have been a better player under a better coach but would he have been backed like he was here for more than five years and played as many NRL games as he did? Seems unlikely.

Perhaps not. He may have reached his talent ceiling and would not have progressed further. His deficiencies however, may not have been as noticeable had we had a good coaching team.

Hopefully by next season field has bulked up a bit and has played 20 rounds of reserve grade so he is ready to partner hunt.
And hopefully we re-sign dugan so he can play 1.
I have changed my mind on Dugan somewhat. He is a gun and we should keep him even if we have to pay him 900k.
Dufty I fear is Adam Quinlan all over again.

Rein thought he deserved a pay upgrade, he believed he was a future SOO player.... yet where is he now?
He was shown the door by one club, and his new club has him stuck in reserve grade.
You can blame the coach all you like... but when you are shown the same treatment from the new coach as you were from the old coach, then maybe its YOU and not the coaches.
#JustSaying.... yes mary is shit, and maybe the old saying rings true, "only shit can identify something else that is also shit".
McInness cost us less then half what Rein was asking.... alot less...and he is delivering 3 times as much.
Thanks for everything Mr. Rien, hope your new coach and surroundings help you progress to reach this so called potential you believe you have.

McCiness will play origin in 2018!! Best hooker we have had since f**k knows when!!

Has pedigree as the 2014 Junior Kangaroos Captain, and plays 80 minutes for fun.

He would be one the quickest hooker in the NRL and will probably be the Dally M hooker of the year if our forwards keep going till the end!!

Watch this space.. The kid is a star in the making...Some of the comments on here are absolutely laughable regarding his talent ...

Be thankful u numbskulls!!

People laughed at me when i said he will play origin - hes now in a 2 horse race w Farah to b selected for Game !..
Take a bow young man!!

Farah is nowhere near selection. It's between McInnes/Wallace/Peats.

McInnes should get it on form.
Lol Farah is 100% in the mix and, IMO, likely to be the one picked.

Not saying it's right, but Laurie Fail-ey is very likely to stick with his favourite failures based on 'experience', ignoring the fact that all that experience has been failure at this level. Expect Farah, Pearce, Jackson, Woods (if fit), Tamou.
