Can anyone answer this question for me:

What has Wayne achieved in his time here?

He has assembled a team which, on paper, should be able to make the top 4 consistently.

However, what we actually have is an old, slow, boring group of players who seem completely incapable of sticking to a game plan, if there even is a game plan.

Wayne has actually done what I thought was impossible. He has made me hate watching us play.

I don't doubt that he is a smart coach, but I really have to question what his grand plan for us is

After tonight's game , I certainly can't answer that. Every now and then I feel like I can see it, and when the team clicks, things are good... but I have no idea how to justify tonight's shit. Houston is f**ked. Gidley is dumb although wasn't horrible tonight. Boyd turns up when he wants.

I still feel like attitude is our biggest problem... but the effort and everything was all good tonight, we were just stupid and the Broncos were pretty damn good.

I have to agree. I don't enjoy watching us play because we just play such insipid, dull football most of the time.

We've got a team oozing talent from #1 to #7, and with some real classy players in the pack, and we just look dull.

He hasn't assembled a team that is Top 4 on paper. We were lacking front rowers when he came here, and three years later we still don't have them. Snowden is out and suddenly our starting props are Tetevano and Cutbertson. You are never going to win games, let alone a premiership, with that sort of muscle up front.

I think Tetavano looked fine out there tonight, and Mason certainly has plenty of beef. Sims is a unit too.

But we're definitely light on in the pack.

We had these threads the same time last year.

Lets just wait until there's absolutely zero chance of making the finals.

I think Wayne's tried to stay true players who were here before he arrived and it's backfired. Kurt should never have been given a big money 4 year deal when he was already 28-29 at the time and had no definite position, Houston should never have been re-signed the last time he was up for renewal, and the money paid to retain Aku is just mind boggling for a player who's not even in the discussion in terms of rep football. We needed fresh faces in the pack (not just ex dragons players). Don't forget Wayne also re-signed Junior Sau and Wes Naiqama a few years back even though everyone here knew they were rubbish and Wayne ended up pissing them off early.

These are topics that were raised at the time, I specifically remember a thread about Aku titled "$500k for a winger". Sau and Naiqama were long time forum whipping boys and many people knew Gidley wasn't a half (the position Bennett originally intended for him).
In regards to House, I remember when he'd supposedly signed with Penrith and a few people were disappointed but most were of the opinion that it wouldn't be that great a loss.

I remember during bennetts first season, he said the game plan was for the players to master the basics of the game first, and be consistent in doing so, and that wins would follow soon after.

Seven rounds into his third year, and we are as wildly inconsistent as ever. Surely Wayne can see that something is seriously wrong, either with his game plans or the players he is repeatedly selecting, or both.

I don't know why anyone would think we have a top 4 team on paper. We have a classy 1-7 but our forward pack is one of the worst in the comp as a whole. We have a couple of good ones but it's mostly shit. At the end of the day your backs can be as good as they want but if you don't have the pack it doesn't matter. All I can say is thank God Clydesdale and Sims are coming through.

I hate to say it, Wayne's style is running thin. It may work come finals footy like it did last year given teams play it more safe than anything and try to grind, but in the regular season it's absolutely worthless. We should be throwing caution to the wind every time we're close to the line.

I posed a similar question a few weeks ago and got shot down for it.

I don't think there is a "grand plan."

I f**king hate Houston. He's useless, never passes, butchers overlaps, terrible defensive reads and nothing on attack. It's a pity Wicks and him aren't cellmates as he's our worst by a country mile.

It's actually not hindsight if you predict it. In fact it's the opposite, you can look it up if you like.

Should we get everyone to dig out their own personal posts making it clear they would let go of Sau and Naiqama before Wayne extended their contracts?

Definitely a bit of hindsight there but at the same time most of them are fair calls, especially Sau & Wes.
