Can Australia still miss out?

Let's say England beat NZ and Australia beat Samoa in a close game, wouldn't Australia miss out after getting flogged in their first match? How much do Australia need to win by to guarantee their spot?

1 NZ 2 2 0 0 44 24 +20 4
2 England 2 1 0 1 44 42 +2 2
3 Australia 2 1 0 1 28 42 –14 2
4 Samoa 2 0 0 2 38 46 –8 0

that's the table now

If NZ win, Aus needs a win to make final or Samoa needs a win with a fairly small margin to make it.

If England win, the margin becomes a lot larger.

The best mathematical chance of Aus missing the final is England beating NZ by 9 points, meaning Australia has to beat Samoa by 26 to make it.

Who gives a f**k? They'll probably just have their own refs pull one out of the bag again if they look like losing, or promise all the Samoan players Origin selection if they throw the game or something.

NZ 4 (+20)
England 2 (+2)
Australia 2 (-14)
Samoa 0 (-8)

If England beat NZ, Samoa are knocked out and Australia will know exactly how much they need to beat Samoa by to qualify for the Final. An England win by 10 points or more guarantees a finals place. A England win by less than that and NZ qualify, and Australia qualifies if they overhaul Samoa by at least 17-25 points (depending on the size of England's victory).

If NZ beat England - NZ are in and England, Samoa and Australia could all still technically qualify. If Australia win, they qualify. If Samoa win, Australia are out and they will qualify as long as their P/D is better than England - currently 10 points between them but subject to change depending on the size of the England loss.

I'm bitter as hell about Australia constantly and deliberately f**king the international game in a multitude of ways.
Have a cry why dont you.

The evidence proves England didnt score the try. If you think the frame proves that Hall grounded it, the same evidence shows Inglis grounded it first.

But you claim he had no downward oressure with all his fingers bent backward as he pushes the ball into the ground, yet Hall has downward pressure with his Pinkie brushing it as it bounces.

England suck. Got lucky against Samoa last week, and couldnt beat Australia with 20+ guys out this week. New Zealand will win by 50.

Ease up MX. Its not easy beating a second string Kangaroos side with only one guy out for the game in the first half and a supercoach like Sheens in charge. Admirable effort.

You've already been proved wrong in the match discussion thread and I'm not even an England fan so not sure what point you're trying to make, other than gloating about the fact that your team won a match because of home-appointed referees that shouldn't have even been there in the first place.

If Samoa turn it on like they have in their first couple of games there is every chance they could beat Aussie.Don't write them off!Be interesting to see who the officials are.

The evidence proves the correct call was made. How can I be proven wrong when the worst case scenario is Greg Inglis grounds the ball and in turn the ball is dead, and whatever happens afterwards is irrelevant. Show all the frames you want with a finger touching the ball (and no downward pressure), before the ball gets that far Inglis has put more fingers and pressure onto the ball as he is trying to put it dead, and the force of him pushing it into the ground also bends his fingers back.

Either both grounded it, or neither did. Its as simple as that.

Despite agree with Homer that it was a try, its more than that. The international game has so much potential, but its f**ked, largely due to the ARL's actions.

Europe population and infrastructure wise is far better setup then the pacific. So that's just wrong. How's France or Wales coming along? Both should be better then they are. So Australia may of stuffed down here (Though PNG and Fiji would argue that) but they can't be blamed for the rest of the sport underperforming.
