Can the Sydney Roosters win the Grand Final again this year?

I don't know about that.
Don't get me wrong, I'd take the premiership any day, but finishing top after 26 rounds is harder than winning 3 finals games on the trot

I think the 2013-2015 Sydney Roosters would say "hi" to that. Minor Premiers all 3 years, only won 1 premiership.

Add in Manly 1995-1997. Minor Premiers all 3 years, yet only won 1 premiership. I dare say I could probably find more so your point is at best debatable.

Roosters were the best team 3 years running . . . and they won the lottery one of those years

Yeah but it's three games (against the season's best teams) after 26 rounds. At the moment, there's still about ten teams that can potentially win the premiership and everyone of those teams will be trying as hard as they can. At this stage how many are still genuinely in the hunt for the minor prem? 4 or 5 maybe. And out of those teams how many are genuinely gunning for it? That's why I'd suggest the premiership is harder than the minor prem, because there's more competition for it.

Surely winning the premiership is harder than winning the minor premiership. Most teams don't give a shit about the minor premiership for a start, including the teams who probably going to win it this year.

I know my team has won both
No guessing which one I preferred.

'Lottery' is a very disingenuous term. How were the Roosters better than Souths in 2014?
'Lottery' is bait, the same as 'cup' is, as long as there are new takers of it and long time forumers know it's a waste of time admonishing me for it it's all a bit of fun. I'm just a bloke who thinks the best team of the year is the 'minor' premiers and the luckiest team of the year is the gf winner

Don't tell anyone but I reckon gf day is the best day of the RL year, regardless of the fact I reckon winning The Shield is much more difficult

Say The Shield was decided first with the required amount of ballyhoo in the same way the DM's are highlighted, the top four teams of it then play for the cup, then Origin was played using players in full season good form . . . Origin players wouldn't 'coast' in the early part of the regular season or be 'satisfied' by just having played/won Origin.

Each step of the season should be a quantum leap, not just horses for courses . . . you wanted a spiel
Origin at the end of the year, won't happen. Players not making the semis will be

Forget Origin at year end. Players unavailable-surgery, injuries, holidays not to mention those who missed the finals would have been on the 'mitchell' for over 4 weeks.
It's up to the coaches to manage the H/A season to peak for the finals. Some just do it better than others.

Survival of the fittest, depends what you want the best players to be available for. I want the 26 round Rugby League season to be decided by the best available players at optimum performance. I don't give a shit if the 3 game Origin series suffers because of it

I want all NRL players to think they have to prove their worth in a full Premiership season, if they survive that both physically and talent wise they have earned the right to play Origin or for their country

Anyone who thinks giving the old Qld 'champions' the advantage of warming up for half a season, putting their all into 3 games and coasting into the NRL finals is doing NSW a favour has f**king rocks in his head. Make Smith, Slater, Cronk, Boyd etc play a full hard season and then ask them to play Origin . . . see how they handle that

Aside from all that I don't care what the media or Wankerland wants, I'll continue to want what I want and make do with what's on offer

Not trying to change how you see it, just pointing out the obvious - SOO will stay as it is(it's a disruption, I agree). As for the 26 rounds my Dragons won the minor premiership in 2009 but got bounced in the finals so as far as I'm concerned it meant sh*t. They won the GF IN 2010. Guess which one gave me the most pleasure??

A professional sports competition has no obligation to determine the 'best' team, otherwise the NRL season would be 30 rounds long with no finals.

Finals provide the most entertainment and is usually won by the best team among the season's top performing teams.
