If Michael Witt steps up in the big time than we are set for 2004!. Injuries broke our back this year so if things go well next year than we will definitely make the eight once again.

Its time Parra has a big name player who isn't a forward ie Hindmarsh and it will be Witt. We need a game breaker for once in our lives.

If Witt and Dykes can stay together our gamebreaker will be Jamie Lyon.

The forwards we have basically need to do that - go forward. If that happens the halves have the space they need.

Not confident???

Struggle to compete???

Not a top 4 side???

Please!!!

We would have been a top 4 side this year barring injury. I know it's an easy excuse, but look at it this way. If we eliminate 1 injury from our squad - Hindy all of a sudden we're a different team. While he was out we lost 4 GAMES by 2 points!!! You can try all day but nobody will ever convince me that ANY side with Hindy in it would not have at least a 2 point turn around.

Add those 8 points on to our total and we are banging on the door as it is.

How many games did we win this year against sides that made the Top 8??? How many games against sides in the Top 8 did we get belted by more than 10 points.

Hindy is a great player and he makes a hell of a difference, but any loss of more than 10 points this year and with or withouth Hindy we still would have lost.

The difference with Hindy was the games we lost by 1-4 points in the early parts. We would have won those for sure and probably made the 8. But the Top 4?? I dont think so!!!

Brian's recruitments have been mixed.......he was quoted as saying he wanted "some big ugly forwards" but?? not one of his forward recruits for First Grade next year are over the 6'2 mark.....hardly big

Muspratt- 6'0
Muckett- 6'0
Cannings 6'0
Pearson6'0
Stapelton 6'2

I thought we would go for more 6'3 or 6'4 players......there hardly going to be imposing figures on the football field!!

How imposing a figure is Matt Parsons? When he actually plays? He makes a lot of metres for his club but aside from that he isn't exactly imposing.

Webcke - 183 cm

Villasanti - 185 cm

Kearns - 185 cm

An imposing figure on a field doesn't necessarily mean they have to be
6' 4".

Trevor Gillmeister, Dean Lance, Gary Stevens, Mark Laurie were some of the smallest forwards ever to walk on the field but who in their right mind would run at them? Ian Hindmarsh, Joe Galuvao and Ruben Wiki for that matter aren't great big guys. These guys are imposing.

In his reference - and from those he has recruited he has gome for big as in solid, chunky blokes who can take the ball forward.

Damn, I wish he had signed someone like Cayless or Puletua but we have who we have and they do look like they can be imposing.

Matt Parsons is a very imposing player on the football field when he does play.......the amount of meters he makes say's it all really.

I do agree with what you said in relation to imposing figures don't necessarily need to be 6'4 but??....this only happens in a minority & where more defensive players then anything.......i was more of the opinion we needed some big blokes who could go forward & make ground for us & be relatively sound in defence.....not exceptional! & this is what i thought Brians plans where aswell!!

The players we have brought can be "imposing" defensively...aside from Cannings & Stapleton.....Muckett & Muspratt are not going to be our answer to our go forward defeciences which i do believe we have more often then not!!

Mark Laurie was not an imposing figure on the field......he was a relaible player who developed better ball skills in the latter part of his career!!.....a relaible, Solid player.....but not imposing!!

I agree with Puletua..but?? Cayless im not a fan off!!......i watched his performance on the weekend & what he did was nothing more then what Heckenberg done for us this year or Greg Drake done for us in 91..92

The front row of the Roosters is by far & away the Chooks weakest link!!

Of course next year will be better. Hopefully we won't have the horendous injury count we did this year and our combinations will have a chance to gel instead of having to bring someone else in every couple of weeks because of injury.

2004 the year of the eel............. :D

I had a look again at the game on Saturday night and although I dont neccessarily think the Front Row is the best in the comp they seem to be getting the job done.

On the other hand, who ever number 2 is on the wing, well, now if ever there was a weak link in a side it is him. He is not a first grader! Tell me, is Grothe Jnr injured? Cause if he is fit and cant get a run ahead of this guy then he is wasting his time coming to Parra next year. I think this number 2 (whoever he is) should be a huge target for the Panthers this weekend. I would be kicking and running at him all night!! It could be wear the game could be won and lost for the Panthers

His name is Todd Byrne......he isn't to bad a player.....probably abit quiet on Saturday night but will be a good player!!......i've seen him play some great games for the Roosters this year & last!!

It's funny how Grothe was sent back to First Division just before the announcement that he was leaving the Roosters to come to Parra.....Grothe was great for them when he played First Grade this year for them!!

Mark Laurie was a five eight who found his way into the forward pack because of the embarassment of riches the club had in the backline. For a small bloke he was one of the most courageous front on defenders I have ever witnessed. If not for Price and Kenny we would have talked more about this guy. I wish we had someone like him now.

Muspratt is a ball player however I disagree with you on Muckert. He is a strong player and runs the ball hard.

Between Pearson, who will help our go forward immensely, Cayless, Cannings and Vella we will have the go forward we missed until the latter part of the year.

As long as Wagon doesn't get between them. Otherwise Jamie will never see the ball.

Very true Suity.

Whocares - I think Vella has to earn his spot again but he will still be of good value provided he regains his form.
