There you go. There was something positive to come out of this old blog after all.

Good on you Tony. You should ring that bloke up who started Blatchey's Blues and pick his brains. He's marketing the brand and making a nice dollar out of it. Have you registered the business/domain name ? Blatchey now has memberships and an Melbourne tour. Cha-ching ...

I'm happy for any profits from merchandise etc to go go to the club. It was one of the reasons I suggested ' The Swarm' be used as the name for the supporters bays as it opens up a new line for marketing shirts etc and expands the clubs revenue stream a little.

Although I'm happy to continue profiting from my day job, I am however looking at setting up 'The Swarm INC ' as a structured not for profit organisation so we can raise money for quality banners, flags, drums, wigs, transport, camping out around opposition hotels at finals time or whatever members decide will enhance supporting our team. The Swarm Inc will allow us to hold raffles and sell small items with the profit being turned back into the supporter bay and our supporters.
It was always my plan to set up a very structured and democratic group with set roles and responsibilities so that once it is up and running I can then step back and just enjoy being a part of it. I am in no doubt that having our supporters finally working as a team will in time give us the best supporters group in the NRL. The Swarm will be very well organised while at the same time allowing everyone who participates to take ownership of it.
The Swarm has only just begun and it is my intention that it will be set up in such a way that it will continue.

I respect your position Tony. You might want to warehouse a few domains whilst you set up your structure.

Thanks Gronk. I've already researched the domain names and to get one that finishes with .au - e.g 'theswarm.net.au' there has to be registered business or organisation with that name (or very similar) first to do so. The Swarm Inc would need to be set up first and I would prefer to do that when we can inform all the members of those bays when the season kicks off so that those that want to be involved have the option to do so. I will of course feed info through the supporter sites and Facebook etc as well.
I have already registered TheSwarmInc.com and TheSwarm.com expires soon (which was first registered 10years ago) and has had zero activity, so may be available when it comes up for renewal.

Just a thought when I was driving home this afternoon about the forum.

Whilst we all love and support the club, there appear to be a real glass half full mentality creeping in to the forum. You know the sort, the new board promised this, a player is off contract-what are we going to do ( and that is not until next year).

Let's be positive, encourage people and family to become members, get behind the administration, cheer the current roster not worry about the next one.

We had a great ride in the second half of 2009, and we seem to be not satisfied with anything.

I am very confident in the plans of DA, Ossie and the like , so get behind them and support them wholeheartedly and not worry if the mail is a few days late, or the hat is not a perfect fit for melons like ours.

This is our club, our passion and our time.

Go the mighty Eels

You mean like when you never missed a chance to sink the slipper into Jeff Robson? Positive like that, you mean? Hypocrite.
