looking at how they used the name Northern and really made a thing of the T in the logo
I thought the team was based in Darwin rather than in Townsville

Not anywhere near as tacky, but is there a need for both "United" and "FC"? Maybe it's just me.

The Bronco looks like a rocking horse, but it's definitely better.

but there's a few teams I'd prefer to see get in ahead of Townsville

I'm hearing Wollongong/South Coast.

what is it with a league names? only wellington and newcastle have decent names. sydney and adelaide have names like a proper football team. queensland, perth, melbourne and central coast have the corniest names but thunder would just take the cake. just when i thought being called the roar couldn't get any worse it does

"Roar" is officially the worst team name after the NY Red Bulls.

They play like a bunch of big cats too *zing*

I don't mind "Mariners" tbh, suits the area. Un-educated, stinky, pisshead thieves. This is coming from a Coast resident and native too. Even if it is a SL rip-off.

I really don't see the need to Americanise football teams. Out of all the football teams in the world, how many actually have a "mascot" or title outside the MLS and A-League?

Most English teams do (Bulls, Black Cats, Cobblers, Red Devils, Hammers, Latics, Bees etc), but it's more an affectionate name than anything to do with mascots.

But how many are actually in the team name?

You dont see "Manchester United Red Devils V West Ham Hammers" on the TV Guide do you?

I'm all for some kind of unique tag for a side affiliated with a mascot/nickname, but names like the "QLD Roar" is laughable.
