Confirmed last night in Carcassonne that Carlos Zalduendo is now the president of the FFR XIII, from what I know of Carlos this appears to be a good choice, he has demonstrated ambition through pushing Toulouse to enter super league and also brought investment into the club through the oval table business meetings, aswell as managing to keep the club afloat financially when they went through tough times in the championship. Add to this the youth development at the regional pole youth training centre.The key areas of focus for Carlos will be the possible implementation of Super XIII which will include summer rugby league, the transition of French league from semi pro to pro at the higher levels, the improvement of the national teams which will include the hiring of a new coach. Increasing participation levels and solid but progressive governance.*French rugby league is now at a crossroads between being a small underfunded sport in a tough financial climate which translates to a type of amateurism on and off the field and becoming a fast growing and dynamic national sporting body, Carlos's tenure and the decisions which he will make in the next few years will define the path league will take for the next generation.*
