Carlton

Are an embarrassment at present. They had a greatly improved year last year and then won the Wizard Cup. Since then though they competed early and lost some close games but over the last 5 weeks they have been a disgrace to the club. I don't mind losing but to give it up every week in the 3rd quarter and beyond is a disgrace. There are some out there not even having a go. Lance Whitnall being one he ius the Owen Craigie of the AFL. It's sad to see.

I hear you...

Never mind there's always an upside...

In Carlton's case, that upside is round 19 when they're drawn against Hawthorn.

And even if they lose that one, there's always the not inconsiderable consolation of having Marc Murphy or Xavier Ellis heading to Princes Park.

i can think of at least 14 players who should go next season

There's 14 I could get rid of at Hawthorn too, but that's too many to adequately replace in one season.

The minimum number of players that a club has to turn over each year is 4, but most clubs would turn over 6 a season if they're progressing steadily.

I expect that Hawthorn will turn over 8 this year (possibly 9) and that Carlton will roll over 9-10.

I'd say Carlton would look to get at least 6-7 from the main draft, but may even chance 8 provided they get a priority pick.

If they finish bottom two they will almost certainly also chance their arm on a player through the PSD, and they may even have a player or two on their rookie list that they'd like to up.
