There is a lot of talk around on these forums re Carney getting out of his Gold Coast contract. The only way that will happen is if the Titans release him from it. Our club would not be able to pay his contract out even if the Titans would allow that (and I doubt very much that they would) Our club has stated that we are close to our cap now, Carney would not be factored into that, so unless he gets the release and plays for much less than he could command it wont happen. Im not sure how long he has signed for I think 3 years, but his only other option would be to do a Gorden Tallis and sit it out. I dont think he would do that. So realistically the only way he can stay is for the Titans to release him, that may be possible if they look at it as not wanting a player that doesnt want to be there, and for him to play here for peanuts. However even if all that came about, being a new team and him being their high profile signing, I think they will hang on to him for grim death.
