WTF was wrong with him last night? That is the worst game I have ever seen him play. EVER. He was shit scared to take on the line and just did a catch and pass all night. His kicking was off. He failed to find touch and even when he did something half good, like covering up a Qld chip and chase he tried to offload before he got tackled and spilled the ball.

I honestly thought he would be the go to guy but he left that to Farah and to a lesser extent, Pearce.

I know he will be retained for game two, but ffs, have a go son!

Origin nerves can get the best of any player.

His team mates stuck by him and barring injury we should run with the same spine, Stewart will be better knowing where and when to support Farah and the halves and Todd will be better in Game 2.

Barring some dubous decisions by the reffs and a great effort by matt Scott to stop Farah scoring we were in that game up to our eyeballs. A bit better bench and we have something to move forward with

It's a good team. IMO if Carney was on it would be a much better team as we all know the 5/8 is truly the spark in setting-up plays in your team and is really in the drivers seat. Last night we had a supercar no driver, Farah had to really dig and he put his critics to bed he was strong. Carney will improve hopefully the home crowd boosts him.

Completely agree. I always thought Carney had nerves of steel. He is at his best running to the line and I don't think he did it once.

Hopefully, in front a packed home crowd he will rise to the occasion.

And an abyssmal kick by Jennings that would have put Stewart over.

I don't think the kick was terrible it wasn't spot-on but he did it under immense pressure and he got pretty close to the mark. Remember Jennings ain't a kicker so he would be as skillful if say Hayne was to do it. In saying so yes a bit more right and it would have been perfect to score but it didn't happen so that's that.

Carney has had 2 enormous games in his career, the 2010 grand final and last nights state of origin.

He shat himself in both.

Hopefully he steps up in game 2 and 3, but if he plays like that again in those games his rep career will be over before it began.

I think I could see the skid marks on his shorts...

I am a massive fan of Carney the player. He's tough, skillful and fast. He has all the skills but lacks the leadership ability. He has shown he can turn a game on his own. He's not a kid anymore and guys like Daley and Fittler need to get in his ear and get him to believe in himself and rise to the occasion.

He was lost out there last night....

We will see the true type of player Carney is in Game 2 now, he can either hide behind Pearce or step up say i stuffed up Game 1 and lead a NSW team to victory...

I hope he chooses option 2.

Skillful and fast yes but he has never been tough. I've always considered him a mentally weak player tbh. His confidence fluctuates way too much and goes completely into his shell when the chips are down.

I'd be dirty if he isn't selected for game 2. Nerves got the better of him last night. He said earlier on radio this week he would be nervous. The one way to cure it is to keep giving guys more games. He knows what to expect now. Stick with him.

He won us a few games with some heroics (think FG against Tigers). I'm talking about physically tough. The guy can take a pounding and he just gets up and plays the ball. Seems quite passive in a lot of ways. Never goes the niggle or plays dirty. Just needs to stand tall in the face of adversity.

Mental toughness may be something he needs to work on. He was the Dally M player of the year in 2010 so he knows how to win games.

Bring back Soward. You know, someone who has a decent kicking game and finds space at the back. Unlike last night where every kick was taken on the full by Slater/Boyd/Tate...

On a serious note, the only changes that should be considered is Watmo in for either Creagh/Lewis/G.Stewart - to add some spark in attack and Reynolds (Dogs player) as utility for Buhrer. I feel sorry for Buhrer, but he doesnt offer any type of X Factor or level of craziness like Reynolds (who is just mad).

Absolute passenger, his missed easy conversion was unacceptable. Nerves can do that though..Sticky has made his intentions clear by picking the bloke, give him an extended run

Reynolds is nowhere near ready for Origin. I say replace Buhrer with Aaron Woods or Ryan Hinchliffe, preferably Woods and let Farah play the full game.
