Brisbane Broncos utility Casey McGuire is recovering from an accident on his grandparent's Dalby farm which almost claimed his eye sight.
McGuire had 50 stitches in facial cuts in his forehead and right cheek after
falling through a plate glass window while sleepwalking in the early hours
of the morning.
The broken glass slashed his right eye-lid but did not damage his eye or the nerves controlling muscles in his face.
McGuire, who underwent plastic surgery last weekend, had the stitches
removed and the weekend and has been told his scars will heal completely.
``I'm bloody lucky I missed cutting my eye,'' the 23-year-old McGuire told the Sunshine Coast Sunday newspaper.
``It was pretty bad, but I could see how lucky I was so I wasn't feeling too bad.
``I few of the guys reckon I should wear headgear to bed now.''
McGuire, who's proved a great handy man for Brisbane filling in several
positions this season, has re-signed with the club until 2005
