Looks like an outstanding athlete and he played both offense and defense which should help. I always thought the USARL should look to bring in and train more of these type of guys, there's no real career for them after college if they don't make it to the NFL and athletically they will be up there with anything in the RL world.

We're always on the lookout for athletes like this but they are hard to contact really and they are used to a much higher level of athletics than we currently can offer (Coaching, travel, facilities, kit etc). We're seeing more and more each year in the USARL but it just takes time for the word to spread.

He's got a bit of off field form so I hope he's put it all behind him if he's serious about this trial. It would be interesting to know how the Catalans and Calloway became aware of each other.

Yeah that would be great to find out.

I sure hope he does well. It could lead the way to more of these opportunities and it would certainly help the US national team for the RLWC qualifiers.

what NFL positions would best transfer to league?

I would think defensive backs (corners and safetys) and linebackers would be best suited to rugby league. They've got decent hands and they are used to tackling players. And maybe guys who play on the special teams (punt coverage, kickoff coverage). These players all have to tackle and some of them are offensive players that are just starting out with a pro team.

It's hard to find any current info on Calloway. He seemed to have it all going his way until he got into trouble. It looked as though he would have been starting at Alabama until his indiscretions. Pretty heady stuff - Alabama has been at or near the top of big time US college football for decades now. To even have Alabama consider recruiting him speaks volumes about his athletic ability. His trouble with the law has probably ended his football career. This might be a last-ditch effort to have a pro sport career.
