Yep, not this year. Next year, well that's a different story. Bit like Vouvray last year, wasn't quite ready for the big one. Put the Falc in one of those and then aim it for the big ones next spring.

I don't think either Leica Falcon or El Segundo will run in the first half of the field.
El Segundo is at massive unders. The last two runs the jock has stuck to the fence and saved plenty of lengths with lucky runs through the field. There will be no room on Saturday as they round the turn and won't be able to save the 5-10 lengths as he has in previous runs.

I agree re El Segundo. He has had some cushy runs.

LF to a certain extent too. I'm looking at him for Cups next year. Will be interested to see how he goes this weekend, but won't be backing him.

$2.30 is easy money LOL. i'll see about that when i'm about to put money on it

and wild iris isn't a chance in the caulfield cup. watch her last run a week and a half ago and she was just steadily making ground. it was a real stayers performance. melb cup is her go

How was wild iris making steady ground last race???? He was about 4 lengths behind Mummify at the 400 and by the 200 he was about half a length away. The last 100 it died on its run and went down by just over a length. That was a slowly run race where Mummify had it easy in front (that won't happen this week). It drops substantially in the weights from that run and in my mind a very good bet for the CC!

I backed Wild Iris that day. Looked home at the 300m. Mummify had a kick though and the soft lead. I thought it was a good run from WI. Not prepared to back it in the cups though.

i must have had more beers than i thought that day

you are right that it made up so much ground within 200m or so, but then it just started plodding along. it was the finish that i'd expect from a 3200m horse. not a 2400m horse

i'll be having her in my trifectas for the place but i don't think she'll be up to it

plodding along........i wouldn't go that far!
the horse just didn't have anything take it into the race and had to go way to early to have any chance of winning. if it has something lead it into the race it would of been a different story. If the jockey waits till the 300-400 to make its run it would of been charging late and would of still gone down by 2-3 lengths because mummify would of been off and gone.
I'm glad it didn't happen like that though........if it did it would be in single figures for the CC,

i think the barrier draw is done after the last on Thousand Guineas Day. Glad I didn't go and load up on Confectioner like I was going to two weeks ago

its a f**king farce that a horse like Natural Blitz is ahead of Confectoiner on the pecking order....wtf? I did do money on confectioner in the CC, but still, its a joke, isn't it?

Also with Mummify...its a cat, right? It won't win, right? Or have I missed something? I backed it to win the CC 2 years ago but for mine there is no way its the same horse anymore...or am i wrong?

Yeah it has. This race is not really one that requires a good draw though. Listened to the draw and they were going through the past winners. Lot drawn 7-14 have won in recent times.

El Seg has had some cushy runs recently and from the draw appears to get another. But in a capacity field like this drawing near the paint can often land you in traffic.

I wanted 8-12 for Vouvray. Got 14 btu if the 2 emergencies drawn in don't get a run, she comes out of 12. So I'm more than happy with :D And they put her out to 13's from the 11's. More to be put on now :D
