Nobody helped the Bears yet all these clubs keep getting lifeline after lifeline, its a joke.

Well said and so true.Gold Coast should never have had a fourth chance. Self engrossed Sydney clubs will be the downfall of the NRL, I remember when the last tv deal was signed it was stated that the money given to the clubs would be used for them to get their heads above water and now that the new television deal has been signed off they are saying exactly the same thing. These clubs need to learn to budget within their own means and if they don't then live with the ramifications. Nobody helped the Bears yet all these clubs keep getting lifeline after lifeline, its a joke.
NRL should set a min 25k membership target for clubs, might make them take seriously building wider fanbases by taking games on the road and identifying with a secondary location such as Gosford.

I like it
How many other parameters are needed ?
10 A grade clubs
5000 junior players
Not lose more than $1 mil in a single year
Able to fund and support a national RG and U20s as well as FG
Sponsorship of $2mil or more
3pas to be less than 50% of total sponsership
Ground that hold 25,000 plus
10,000 seated ticked members
There should be a criteria for not only potential NRL bids but also existing NRL clubs where all clubs/bids are based on a points system that includes juniors, area, memberships, income etc, etc.
But if there was a points system covering all the different criterias it would work. There is always going to be opposition from clubs the ARLC have just got to grow some balls and say "okay guys here is the criteria that you must qualify for to compete in next seasons competition". If clubs are low in one area they get 1 point, if the are high they get 5 points etc, etc.
Give them twelve months (being generous) for the new rules (criteria) to sink in and for clubs to try and meet the areas that they are weak in.
