Central Highlands Rugby League

I've noticed the Highlanders RL club have decided to be a bit ambitious and have taken moves to setup their own Rugby League division.

Already they have one other club, the Ballarat Dragons, and are trying to setup teams in each of these divisions U/7, U/9, U/11, U/13, U/15, U/17 & Seniors.

So I guess the question is for all the Victorians on this forum? Can this work? and where else could other clubs be setup? Also does anyone want to take the initative and try and setup a side to enter into this competition?

Contact for the group is Ken James on (03) 5344 9038 or email info@highlanders.com.au

I think it is exactly what RL in Victoria needs, a bit of ambition, Self motivation, everyone seems to blame everyone yet no one seems to want to stand up to the challenge.

Mate I would give money to a group like the highlanders for this. I am serious.

I've posted a thread about this before. As yet I have not heard from the MRL regarding Maroondah Magpies. What I don't get is why MRL teams don't play against sides from Gippy RL and the VRL. Think, a statewide competition with more teams. My understanding is that there are only 4 or 5 teams in the MRL that field full sides and maybe 2 of them have a full reserves side as well!
