Ch 9 and cowboys next year...

The Cowboys have "won" 4 wooden spoons since they entered the comp and for the most part they have been easybeats, quite frankly they didn't rate and that's why 9 haven't shown them. You refer to other teams not playing well but getting televised, I'll let you in on a little secret. Those teams are from Sydney and they rate well. Get it? ;-)

Source?

I guess we'll never know how the Cowboys would have rated but there have been enough posts on here about people being sick of seeing the same teams on FTA and wanting to have a look at the Cowboys before their finals run to make me wonder.

It's your claim, you prove it...otherwise, it's just your opinion and, you being a Rorters supporter and all, less valid than most :D

There's nothing to prove. Up until now the Cowboys haven't rated and the fact that 9 hasn't shown them is proof enough.

You really are stupid.

How can their FTA ratings be measured if they aren't shown on FTA?

And now we're back to

"I guess we'll never know how the Cowboys would have rated but there have been enough posts on here about people being sick of seeing the same teams on FTA and wanting to have a look at the Cowboys (before their finals run) to make me wonder"

from earlier in this thread. So it is just your opinion, isn't it?

It's not just my opinion. If you had half a brain, logic would tell you why the Cowboys haven't been on free to air much.

Because every time Nien broadcasted a Cowboys games the ratings were bad?

:p

or is it because people in Sydney wouldn't watch a Cowboys game? (as shown by the ratings from the Cowboys v Broncos last Saturday).

or is it because of onfield performance (nah - teams that finished behind the Cowboys on the table were still shown).

taking this off topic (sorry) but while figures aren't released on Pay TV numbers, there have be stories (no links - sorry again) that the NQ Cowboys have rated well.

Rooster Cogburn, would you care to get logical and tell us why Ch.Nein have only chosen to show 2 Cowboys games in 10 seasons?

Wonder how many they'll show?

They've showed 1 in 1995
They haven't showed any from 1996-2003
And now they will show at least 4 this year (maybe 5!).
2005 they'll show....

Hopefully Nine will now give the coverage they deserve... a few friday nighters will be good :D

The people of NQ should get Cowboys games on FTA every week regardless if they are one of the 2 main channel 9 games shown a weekend.

Channel 9 in Brisbane show all Broncos games, Swans and Lions get all their games beamed into their home cities...

Why can't the Cowboys get the same coverage up there?

I never put you down as one of those people who considered Brisbane premiership winners in 1997 :?:.

Live and learn I guess :).

If the local CH9 affiliate channel (WIN) could do now what they did for us in 1995, I'm sure they would.... maybe with the renewed enthusiasm this year they can take another look.

WIN TV couldn't even afford to take the feed from CH9 Brisbane, for Cowboys VS Bronco's played in Brisbane (which are all covered by CH9 Bris)

While it's true in part to say that "we" are shitty because FTA coverage of our team hasn't been avilable on FTA for "us"... there's also the fact that we want the same advantages as every other club.

We want "national" coverage of our team.... teams lift for Friday night fooyball, and everyone watches Friday night football. We're pretty proud of our team and we want everyone to see them play at least once or twice a year.

We want players from this club to get an even chance at representitive selection.

Rahihi didn't get a look in for the ANZAC test... why?? because he was out of the loop.

Same goes for Morro (he's gone to the eels for this reason only).

Yeah... we have to "deserve" to get a bigger slice of the FTA TV pie... but should we have had to beg for 10 seasons, just to taste the pie?

WIN used to show the Cowboys each week but this year, it was claimed that Nien were charging $300,000 per game for the right to do so and the sums just didn't add up. Maybe next year...
