Don't laugh.
I can't help but notice the plethora of compliments coming his way over the past few weeks, particularly from heavy hitters like Johns, Sterlo and Fittler.
I think Keary will be five eighth, and he works best with a Cronk-style organiser and game manager alongside him.
Ask yourself who the contenders are and I'd argue he is a pretty good shot.
His competition is:
Cleary - the incumbent, but playing like a busted. At best 50/50 to be picked;
Luke Brooks - media darling, but way too in and out of games and inconsistent;
Mitchell Moses - see Luke Brooks;
Adam Reynolds - I think the only one out of this list to challenge him.
There's obviously a push for Cody Walker, but he is an out and out 6 so I see him competing with Keary.
I don't think they work together.
I get the impression serious thought is being given to a Townsend / Keary combination.
Shout me down at your will, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen.
