Championship Manager 4

Thought I'd make a thread to see who has this game, and so we can give each other some hints and tips. I'll start off, and list some good young players to try and get if you can.

Labinot Harbuzi - I can't recommend this kid enough. He's languishing in the Feyenoord reserve team so I got him for just 450 thousand pounds. But within 12 months of buying him he has an average rating of over 9, and Real Madrid just made a swap offer for him with Zidane. I dismissed it out of hand. He's a central attacking midfielder, but I'm mostly using him as the right mid.

David Jones - Plays in the Man Utd under 19 team, so I didn't have to pay out a cent for this young central midfielder. He would be a regular in my team if it weren't for the even better Harbuzi, but will probably have to wait for a few years before he comes in.

Levant Yalcin - This young striker plays for York in the English second division, and cost me just 35 thousand pounds. He's been getting a goal a game for my under 19 side, and has continued that great record when I loaned him out to a lower division team.

Championship Manager is the best game on the planet.

Seriously, anyone who likes soccer has to play this game.

Some great players in the game (CM4) are:

Diego: Is only 17 but give him 2 years and he becomes the best player in the world. A must have.
Cristiano Ronaldo: Only 17 as well, give him 3 seasons and he starts getting ratings of 9 and 10 every game. The kid is a freak and can play attacking midfielder and striker, left, right and centre. Very versatile.
Joaquin: Brilliant right winger who plays for Real Betis. Is very expensive and hard to buy, but he is worth every cent.
Ricardo Quaresma: Only 18, but again is a brilliant right winger. Starts off slow before hitting his stride. Another must have.
Mido: You want a 30 goals + striker on your team?? Mido is the man. Also very expensive.
Cristian Chivu: A solid rock at the back. Excellent defender and at a pretty decent price.
Shunsuke Nakamura: A must buy. Cheap and doesnt ask for much wages, but turns out to become one of the best wingers in the game. Plays better on the left wing than in the centre. His crosses and free-kicks are lethal.

I can't remember how much it is, probably about the $80 to $90 that most games are.

hehe, which Diego is that? There are so many of them with that name that it's incredible. Is it the attacking midfielder from Santos that can play central or on the right? He's the one I've got, and he's awesome. But there's also another striker by that name that has some great stats (plays at Indepentiente I think?).

I've just bought Chivu, and I'm hoping to get Ronaldo on a free transfer when his contract runs out. I especially want him now that he is at Man Utd in real life. I was also going for Quaresma, but because Diego is going so well I don't have any place to play him.

Have you found that Chivu is better in the centre or left defence?

My team:
GK: Barthez (hoping to get Paul Robinson soon)
LB: Mikael Silvestre
CB: Rio Ferdinand
CB: Lucio
RB: William Gallas
LM: Harry Kewell
CM: Kieron Dyer
CM: Roy Keane
RM: Diego
ST: Ronaldinho
ST: Ruud van Nistelrooy

Subs:
GK - Roy Carroll

Defenders - Wes Brown (much better than his stats would imply), John O'Shea, Josheph Yobo, Gary and Phil Neville (both on the transfer list) and Chivu coming at the end of the season.

Midfield - Paul Scholes, Kim Kallstrom, Labinot Harbuzi, Kieran Richardson (became a wonderkid when I loaned him out); getting van der Vaart and a defensive midfielder that I can't remember.

Strikers - Wayne Rooney (scores almost two goals a game for me  ), Diego Forlan, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

How's that for depth.

Yes, you have the right Diego. I play him in the centre though.

With Chivu, i found that he generally played slightly better on the left. But there os not much difference. I play with a back 3 and it is classed as CB in the game and he plays well.

How did you afford Van der Vaart. I offered 53 Million Pounds and they rejected!!

lol, Ajax are bankrupt in my game so I'm getting him for just 6-8m and Chivu just 3.5m pounds.

Is it just me, or are a lot of clubs going bankrupt? Arsenal, Real Madrid (I had a huge laugh at them  ), Ajax, Juventus and Barcelona are just some of the big teams.

ok my team and then some hints.

Southampton
GK Tim Howard
LB Lundekvam
dc M. Svensson
rb E. Djemba Djemba
DMC K.Kallstrom
DMC T.Graveson
MR A. Farnerud
ML W.Bridge
AMC F.Adu
AMC F.Paim
FC J.Beattie or Robinho

Players get Freddy Adu and Fabio Paim and train them they become super stars :D :D

Farnerud is great

Robinho has blinding pace but gets stuck on work permit

I play a 3-2-2-2-1 formation to great a effect but have also found a

3-5-2 to be good

Freddy Aaaaaaaaduuuuuuuuuu  I knew there was somebody else I meant to put in my list of good young players. He hasn't broken into my first team yet, but then again he's only just turned 16.

So what's everybody's success stories? I've become next to unbeatable. 3 English Premierships in a row, 3 FA Cups in a row, and if I win my next game it'll be 3 Champions League trophys in a row as well. Aaah, the sweet smell of success. :D

One thing I'm not happy about. I was undefeated throughout the premier league last season, until I came up against 2nd placed Liverpool on the last day and they beat me. Grrrr, I was looking forward to that record.

I'm pretty sure the Champ Manager cames are not available for the PS or PS2, though I think they may be available for the X-Box (?). There are other football manager games for the PS and PS2 though.

Lewis im pretty sure that CM3 could be from the season 00/01 or 01/02

what they do is release a new game every say 4 yrs but release yearly updates of these until a new one comes out.

This year is the first year of CM4

Also, I've got a cheat which will allow you to get any player for free, I'll give you a step by step run down on how to do it:
1. Find the player you want and make a bid that the other club can't resist
2. Ok now that the other club has agreed to the transfer go to off him contract
3. Once you are in the contract screen, go to back to the news, do this manually by going into tab that has your name on it and click news do not click the back arrow.
4. Now click on the players name from the news
5. Click withdraw transfer, then click offer transfer bid and put down 0 or whatevenr amount you want
6. Click the back arrow all was back to where you were when you offered the player the contract
7. Now the next part is pretty much the same as what would normally happen if you sign a player, the player agree then you can agree to signing him.
8. Now you've got youself something for nothing, so you can't complain
