Changes for Italy?

Yeah was reported on SBS the other day. Sterjovski played OK but he isn't a match winner like Bresciano. Plus, Bresciano plays in the Italian League and has the experience in big games against the Italian players (unlike Kalac who sits on the bench for Milan).

Unfortunately Popovic is gone for the tournament.

Emerton has basically been playing like a wide right midfielder so no need to bring in a defender for him.

I think Culina (very quick) will take Emertons spot with Bresciano (our best player imo) to come into the starting line up.

Culina ...............Bresciano.........Cahill......................Kewell

I know we have a good side but not sure if we can win with 10 players? That should be the side with maybe stejovski or Skoko added to the team.

woops

That was assuming we get a player sent off.

Forgot about Aloisi ;-)

We'll need 2 strikers to break down the Italians.

and yeah don't discount the italian based aussies getting a go here

but no matter how hard we try, i don't think any of us will ever get the final line-up right. unless we're sleeping with guus

AGOSTINO?!?!?!?!!

he hasn't played for 100 years

what about ALOISI??

anyways, we wont have 2 strikers. we'll be a 3-3-3-1 again

----------------------------Schwarzer-----------------------------
------------Neill--------------Moore------------Chipperfield---------
Wilkshire----------------------Grella--------------------------Culina
Sterjovski---------------------Cahill--------------------------Kewell
------------------------------Viduka-------------------------------

that's my best guess

 Lack of sleep is getting to me.

Sorry John. Agostino was a hack too.

Hopefully Guus finds a spot for Bresciano somewhere in there, he's too good to leave out of the starting line up. It was his excellent cross and Aloisi's flick on that set up Harry's goal this morning.

i think guus likes having a game breaker on the bench

so it's either cahill, kewell or bresc starting on the bench

my theory is that there's no need for a game breaker if you're leading by 2 with a full strength team starting. also not much point in a game breaker coming on if you're down by 2.

Nuffs, I think you're right there. Guus does like having an ace up his sleeve doesn't he.

I'm with you on your theory.

We've played our best football both in the qualifiers and in the WC when the "trio" of Kewell, Bresciano & Cahill have all been on the field.

Emerton is a very very big loss. That being said, Kennedy on form deserves more game time, though I'd like Lazaridis used as a supersub on the flank midway through the second half so he can use his pace to cause problems. Naturally Schwarzer should return to the goals. He never should have been dropped.

Tbh, i don't think Sterjovski adds much to the team - he can't cross for sh*t. Swap him with Aloisi and change the formation - they'd have to do so anyway with Emerton out.
