They've reached the elite position in their sport, most have never played finals let alone won a premiership, and they 'need' a motivator?

I went to some local league this year. Freezing, windswept ground here in NSW, 4PM kick-off (so the sun had little say), there'd be a few hangovers on the field, one guy does nightshift the night before, tough jobs or no jobs to head to the next day, they often played bigger teams from down the hill, or wild and woolier teams from the other direction, back beyond the hill, etc.

They were a motivated team, and the community loved them.

Corvo will be a great signing but unfortunately with the World Cup this year ending 2 December, a lot of our squad won't be back to Penrose until either late December or January. Between the NZ team and all the PI teams, I doubt there will be many of our top 20 players who aren't involved somewhere.

I can hear the excuses being lined up already "We didn't get a full preseason"

I think Corvo will have that well in hand, he's worked with Storm, Broncos, Queensland & Kangaroos...all have those issues. There'll be individual rehab, train-on, maintenance programmes happening for players involved in reps (as well as for players that come back with weight issues etc - big on the skinfolds, nutrition & doing compulsory extras) & a full season for the whole club base (they won't know what hit them) which will mean there'll be no excuses from anyone re fitness. He'll be well-involved with position specific conditioning so I reckon there will be some back to basics with skills and drills for a lot of them to compliment that - I know he was always totally involved around Storm trainings.

wonder if he can do passport blocks to the Islands. Seems to me a lot of them come back from the Islands having enjoyed the hospitality a little too much.

Actually most islanders from the islands gain weight when they eat western foods or live here in NZ. Do you get out much bro?

You should just spend a day in Auckland and then goto the Islands and tell me who looks more obese lol. I totally agree they have nutrient deficiency due to the food limitations of what can grow in those climates but overall Fat it has to be the Westerners. Or recent natives that eat western food giving their system a shock. Interesting article was a good read.

I'd love to see what he says/thinks when he does his initial assessments.

That I would like to know too. Besides the physical aspects of the game by getting them fit. We need more mental coaches. We have 1 but I haven't really been impressed with the lack of mental steel when the going gets tough, we just fold. I want more mental coaches/support/counseling, Instill confidence and belief in our boys. Daniel Anderson and Ivan Cleary manage to crack the mental code with our boys. SK needs to do the same or have that support around him to achieve this.
