Changing players in defense

I know the theory behind what is supposed to happen here...when you choose a player in defense, it selects the player who is most likely to make the tackle.

This sounds good, but it's not working in this game. I have tested this by having a player lined up perfectly for a tackle, pressing the change player button, and having some other player selected instead of the player right in front of the ball carrier. I have tried this many times, sometimes it selects the fullback when there are 2 or 3 players between him and the ball carrier!

For the next version I hope this is fixed and I also suggest that the trigger buttons can be used also to select players in defense.

I agree. It was a good idea, and may help somewhat when a player has broken your line, but in normal situations its just not working. However, you can get used to it in this version, but it should be changed.

Yeah it selects always the one who you least suspect, i get ready to line up my defender with the attacker and i press square (PS2 version) and it normally selects the one next to the closest one to the ball carrier, i don't know why it does that for but it becomes quite annoying especially when your defending on your own line.

Is there any way you can force it to select a player in the defensive line rather than one of the markers before the computer plays the ball, sometimes it does let me but other times it just switches between the two markers.

I like to control someone in the line as you can drop them back or line someone up, I dont think controlling at marker really helps that much.
