Geez some of you guys are hard to please... Imagine a Commercial broadcaster showing ads??

And as far as them not showing any ads for 40 minutes during the halves....

Should they leave them all to half time when we can turn over to the cricket??

I recall one year when there were no ads during a Grand Final in either half.

It can be done.

yes, but thats a GF, a semi is not as important.
Sully, if you were in charge of Ch9 and could make a sh!t load of money via commercials then you would...dont say "I would have the fans interests at heart" as thats a load of BS.

Is channel 9 doing the Rugby league Coverage?

(Do Not answer, This is a Sarcastic Rhetorical Question)

Exactly what I was going to say... what coverage??

Although, having seen the game last week, WTF is with these stupid facts?? Who gives a toss that Shaun Berrigan has a dog named something???

What they could do with live Channel Nine games is have an ad break after the conversion attempt and not let the referee start the next kick off until the ad break is over. I know with AFL games on the free-to-air networks that after a goal is scored the umpire has to wait until a light near the main stand goes off before he is allowed to bounce the ball up to continue the game. Those AFL ad breaks after goals uusually go for about 10-20 seconds. The NRL could perhaps do something like this with live games on Channel Nine? It also takes longer in rugby league for the players to get back to their 'starting' positions after a conversion attempt than in AFL after a goal, so they could probably make these breaks about 30 seconds. What do you think of that idea?

Back in 1990 or so, Channel 10 briefly had Friday Night Football live, but when tries were being missed because of ads, they went back to the delayed coverage.

If they are going to cover it properly live, they must do away with the ads. It's not like cricket where you can slot ads in during the end of the over.

the AFL use the white light with great results, it has been around for many years now aswell might i add.

I am disapointed that 9 aren't showing the finals to Victoria and the like considering 10 has the rights to all the AFL finals.

Does anyone know under the new TV deal will the emerging states get a better deal from 2007? (Maybe Yakstorm can fill the gaps here)

Also on a recent trip to Darwin i found that 9/Win what ever they call it do a live NRL broadcast from 7 on Friday nights with the AFL on straight after, maybe they could do this in reverse in Melbourne etc...

bullsh*t editing by Nein. We often miss ANY replay of a try but spend interminable time watching the team walk back, the kicker lining up his kick. Why not show one replay, go to an ad and then show another replay and a replay of the kick attempt, just the kick, not including waiting for the tee, the ball and stuffing around lining it up and moving back fromt he ball. A very poor start by Nein. Hopefully, they will improve but I'm not hanging by my balls waiting because they have shown their contempt for viewers too many times over too many years.

It's an improvement on SOO, where they would show lining up the kick and replays etc. - then miss the play after the kick off.

I think it's okay except for the 'don't rock the boat' attitude of most of the commentators. They very rarely [...] draw attention to bad refs decisions [...] and only Gus said anything about the penalty against Heighno.
The problem is, and with Gould in particular, is that they're no more free of bias than the loons who inhabit forums like these. Added to that, they're also no better at interpretng what they've just seen than us, or the referees.
