Correct. It’s a wonder this movie ever got made with the shenanigans that both Bette Davis and Joan Crawford pulled during shooting, the behind the scenes are just as interesting as the actual movie. As you say it is one of Bette’s best and one of my favourites, so glad Olivia De Havilland replaced Joan Crawford, she is fantastic as the subtly evil Miriam, a special mention to Mary Astor in her last movie, her two scenes are breath taking.
Even more amazing that Whatever Happened To Baby Jane was made with the two bitter enemies once again cast. Have you seen the The Feud ?

Also pleased Crawford did not complete the film as ODH's Miriam was one of the best things she ever did imho.

Yep watched Feud and loved it, I thought Susan Sarandon was perfect as Bette Davis.

Loved some of the stories that came out from the filming of Baby Jane but as a lot of people said they are greatly exaggerated but they still make for great reading especially the bit where Joan Crawford weighted her body down when Bette had to drag her and Bette strained her back, also the part where Joan's character was lying on the beach wasted away and dying and she wouldn't get rid of her false boobs and Bette winded herself when she fell on them, Bette quoted it was like landing on twin Matterhorns, lol.

Yes agree about Olivia in Hush, Joan would have been too obvious as Miriam and given up the plot away to early, Olivia played the part so subtly that she had me guessing the first time I watched and I didn't suspect her until way into the movie. There are some great still shot of the scenes Joan filmed, I would have loved to see the footage of what she filmed though to compare it to what Olivia did.

Sarandon and Lange were fabulous.. they were Bette and Joan. We can not forget the performance of our own Judy Davis as Hedda Hopper...

I believe this story. Doubt they would have used it in Feud if it was not true.

Great pics. You can almost see the tension between Bette and Joan. You do know it was a bloke that started this decades long feud? They both loved Franchot Tone but Joan got him. Bette claimed she stole him.

Yep that went back to when Bette starred in Dangerous with Franchot Tone.

It is interesting that Joan filmed scenes with most of the principal actors in Hush including Joseph Cotton, Cecil Kellaway, Agnes Moorehead and Joseph Cottons wife even mentions that she filmed the scene with Mary Astor but not one scene was filmed between Bette and Joan, there is only one publicity shot that they did together where they are sitting in the grave yard.
