I think the problem here is that many Poms only appreciate `shiners'. Chris was not a `shiner'. You wouldn't see him doing flashy side-stepping runs and exiting kick and chase. But you'd often see him drawing in defenders to off load a money ball, or being on the spot to take the pass for a try AND he ALWAYS be right on the spot to STOP an opposition attack with his superb defence. The fact that Chris played for Australia and was a `star' with Cronulla bears testament to his worth. I'd have Chris McKenna back any time you blokes want to realease him.
Chris McKenna was a `worker' his value to both Cronulla and Australia was immense. If your mates want a shiner, why don't they take a look at another Chris - Chris Walker. He's as flashy as they come, but it's almost a dead certainty that he'll let in a try for every one he scores.
That's the difference. Chris McKenna's value was not so much in the tries he scored, but in his defence causing many more opposition attacking movements to break down.
Yes, Chris McKenna was a centre but later played 2nd row. I think he was switched back to the centres when ET retired? He can play both.
