Given it will be a genuine NSW trial in a number of positions, what are people's city country teams. Always make a few mistakes on this one. Test players will unavailable, that won't affect many nsw players. Perhaps Hayne (on name not form) and Gallen, perhap a front rower (learoyd Lahrs and another backrower Lewis) based on last years side.

Well thats just a guess.
The front row battle will be huge. I tend to think Learoyd Lahrs will be in the side, given he can play some 2nd row, I think 3 guys from this game will get the nod.
I think Pearce will be halfback, but now Carney is AWOL again, gives a big chance to Mullen, Soward to put their hand up.
Backrow, well I think Gallen and Lewis will be there, leaves probably 2 spots. Bird may be another. Maybe its down to one or two guys, unless they pick Bird at 6.
Then battle for Hooker, probably between Ennis, Farrah and Dean Young.
Huge battle also for wing and centre spots.

You would think fullback will be Hayne.

I'd say those sides would be pretty well on the money.

However I'd say that Gidley would probably be on the bench in the test side, so bring Soward into 5/8. I'd also play Hodkinson at 5/8 for city. He might be a halfback, but he'd still be more effective in the #6 than Anasta. If City/Country really is an audition for Origin, then it's useless having Anasta there. He won't play Origin again, where Hodkinson is still a chance.

I'd say the back three will probably be Hayne, Gardner, Merritt. Hopoate to be an outside shot.

If past ANZAC Test matches are anything to go by Morris, Gallen, Bird, TLL, Kidley and possibly Lewis won't play.

Using your sides as templates Ant...

City
Stewart to fullback if fit, otherwise Gardner comes in.

Hayne and Hoppa to the wings.

Anasta to lock, would choose Hodkinson to slot into five eigth but it could easily go to Wallace depending on next week's performance.

Grant and Buhrer to come onto the bench for Hunt and Prior.

Country

Gordon in for B Moz.

Soward promoted to five eigth, Fensom slots onto the bench.

Heighnington in for Bird

Hunt in for Douglas (but that's just my preference.)

I wouldn't mind seeing Bird in the 6 for Country.

Glenn Stewart pushing his case for a Country jumper as well. Playing very well atm. Was a monster again last night.

Said it a few times, but I really want to see Gordon trialled in the centres, and this game could be good for that. Not going to see it happen though :(

How things can change in a year - I looked back on the teams named for City and Country last year and wow - some names their who I really couldn't believe - Willie Mason still playing rep this time last year

2 Michael Robertson (Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles) - No Chance I'd Say
3 Jamal Idris (Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs)- Definite
4 Timana Tahu (Parramatta Eels)- Ahh No
5 Luke Burt (Parramatta Eels) - God Country have been short of Wingers
6 Greg Bird (Gold Coast Titans) - Prob swap in the Aussie side for Gids
7 Brett Kimmorley [c] (Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs) - Obviously retired so Mullen
8 Kade Snowden (Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks) - Yep
9 Michael Ennis (Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs) - Yep
