Joel Edwards a massive smoky for bench spot for country. His Improvement this year has been enormous and his ability to plug the middle is good

Is Dan Hunt a City or Country representative? He has averaged an impressing 14 runs 108 metres 25 tackles this season.

And honestly, I don't see what incumbents Weyman or TLL have done this year to warrant selection, let along CvC regulars like Laffranchi, King, Kite, White and Gibbs. On form, the teams would be...

Country props:

- Tolman: average 20 runs 154 metres 34 tackles
- Merrin: average 15 runs 127 metres 24 tackles
- Snowden: average 13 runs 111 metres 26 tackles
- Douglas: average 11 runs 95 metres 32 tackles

City props:

- Mannah 17 runs 127 metres, 28 tackles
- Grant: 15 runs 109 metres 25 tackles
- Galloway: 12 runs 101 metres 26 tackles
- Shackleton: 12 runs 91 metres 20 tackles

If Hunt qualified for City, he would come in for Shackleton most likely.

I'd be keeping an eye on youngsters Vic Mauro, Aaron Woods, Mitchell Allgood, Andrew Fifita, Tariq Sims and Ryan James in coming years too - there is some serious talent in that lot.

As it stands at the moment, I am assuming that Watmough, Gallen, B Morris (somehow) and TLL (unjustly) will be picked for Australia. If Luke Lewis is fit, he should be picked for Australia too, and should be an incumbent for the NSW team, so none of these four players require CvC selection:

City:

1. Jarryd Hayne
2. William Hopoate (bolter, but in amazing form right now)
3. Mark Gasnier
4. Michael Jennings
5. Beau Champion (natural centre, but I'd throw him onto the wing in this situation - I'd have Chris Lawrence if he was fit)
6. Peter Wallace
7. Mitchell Pearce
8. Tim Mannah
9. Robbie Farah
10. Tim Grant
11. Mark Minichiello
12. Trent Waterhouse
13. Braith Anasta / Liam Fulton

14. Jamie Buhrer (yes, a bolter...I like the look of him)
15. Simon Dwyer / Tom Symonds (bolters, but both are huge talents)
16. Keith Galloway
17. Shane Shackleton

We are probably scraping the bottom of the barrel with the City selections. There aren't exactly many 'unlucky' ones here

Country

1. Josh Dugan
2. Michael Gordon
3. Jamal Idris
4. Josh Morris
5. Akuila Uate
6. Jarrod Mullen
7. Kurt Gidley / Luke Walsh (Walsh is the better half, but Gidley always finds a way into these teams - I'd have Todd Carney if he was available)
8. Aiden Tolman
9. Michael Ennis
10. Luke Douglas
11. Ben Creagh
12. Chris Heighington
13. Dean Young

14. Greg Bird
15. Joel Thompson / Beau Scott (either)
16. Tom Learoyd-Lahrs (should be Trent Merrin IMO, but TLL is the incumbent)
17. Kade Snowden

Canberra flyers Blake Ferguson and Jarrod Croker are the unlucky outside backs. Dragons boppers Dan Hunt and Trent Merrin are the unlucky props. Knights duo Chris Houston and Corey Paterson are the most unlucky of the backrowers, alongside Raider Joe Picker, and Rooster Mitch Aubusson.

Aiden Tolman starting and coming off the Bench ? I know he's a workhorse but that's a bit much isn't it

I think Big Bad Bryce Gibbs the best defensive prop in the game will definatly make the city squad again this year and perhaps even Origin

My bad, it was supposed to be Snowden.

Gibbs has been rubbish this year.

I hope they don't pick the following players so we can have a better look at the contenders....
Hayne
Gidley
TLL
Lewis
Watmough
Bird
Gallen
and maybe Farah (he doesn't need any more games to aggrevate his injury)

We know these players will be picked barring major f up by the selectors so give the other guys a chance to show their stuff. Soward must play and at 5/8 for Country. I would like to see how he reacts outside of the Dragons system but have a feeling he will do pretty well. We all know that the selectors don't even seem to watch this game anyway though.....

I agree City/Country should be played by those uncertain players, they have origin defenants who don't need to provide their rep ability and also there will be players out playing in the test.
