He joined the wanderers at age 12 - I know he was in the dogs juniors before that but jesus surely we deserve some credit!! Thats a pretty huge chunk of his junior footy played in the Balmain junior league.

Wlliams is in for Maitua.

Sharks Junior.

Sounds fair Brooke. I'd call him Balmain if he played from 12 there.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't realise that he ever played Balmain junior league. It is often mentioned in the media that he is a Canterbury junior.

Based on that i would consider him more of a Balmain junior than a Canterbury junior.

Yeah the media are frequently annoying

He played for the Enfield Federals until they folded and he followed his coach to the Wanderers - been with us every since :D

For some reason I thought Hayne was a Wests junior. Or is he connected to Wests for another reason ?

Enfied Feds, did they used to be Wests juniors ?

I think he might live in Campbelltown (or nearby). But i'm pretty certain that Cabramatta is his junior club.

Yeah in 1988 the Wests junior league was split between Balmain and Canterbury. Wests and Balmain were already playing together just as Balmain now plays with St George. In 1986 there were 2 Wests teams in the SG Ball - the Blacks were the old area and the Whites were Campbelltown and even though Wests and Balmain were in one comp both inner city teams made the semis.

The Feds were supposed to stay in Balmain but the A Grade didnt want to play Ryde Eastwood so 10 teams broke away to form Belfield and 4 teams stayed and kept all the money. The next year they merged again in Canterbury with their headquaters in the pub on the other side of Punchbowl road in Bulldog territory. Defunct about 1998 and some of those last juniors are getting into Premier League over the last couple years.
