Civ - he's a legend

This may sound corny and cheesy ... but I'd like to give credit to big Petero for not only the way he has played this year, but also the way he handles himself in the media.

The guy is as tough as they come on the field and leads by example. He is also doing that off the field. The way he gave credit to the work his wife does as a Mum (Sunday Mail, Mother's Day) was great stuff. He is a man-among-men in my opinion.

Unlike other great players (not mentioning any names) big Civ remains a humble human being, from what I can see in his interviews. I don't think I've ever seen him backchat refs. He may have retaliated on the field to other players once or twice, but who wouldn't in that atmosphere and pressure.

Yeah Civoniceiva! What a season from him, he's been getting better with age.

I have a lot of respect for Civo, not only of his humble nature but the loyalty he has shown to Brisbane. He was offered a lot of money by the Cowboys back in 2001, however decided for the cheaper deal at Brisbane.

Although he won't be considered as great as Webcke or Lazo he'll certainly be remembered. I hope he breaks the Australian represenative record in next years World Cup, he'd deserve it too, as long as he keeps playing to his current form.

Good work Petero! Keep it up for SoO! We'll certainly need it!

I think in another era he'd get more recognition as a footballer and as a person. he's unfortunately been in webcke's shadow for many years which hides the fact he's equal with raper as the most capped test forward. looking at how he's going he's probably got another few years in him and i think he's a player who will get better with time ala kennedy

Petero's a legend but Petero's a guy who needs a break. Watching him last weekened he's starting to look tired.

After 40 tackles and about 20 hit-ups I'm not surprised. The guy was a collosus last weekend.

Hopefully during and after Origin, Carlaw, Hannant, Kenny and Taylor can take a bit of pressure from him. But to me, the tougher it is, the better he gets.

I can't remember the last time he missed a game, and he's been an Origin and Test regular for a few years now. Just a warhorse.

Yeah Petero is a champion player he's won player of the year for us last season and a couple of seasons ago and takes the ball up hard gaining plenty of metres (Probably part of the reason why we're 2nd in the metres gained stats depite our poor season) and always seeems to be a champion bloke to just puts his head down and does the hard work with minimum of fuss. Hopefully we can resign him and it would be sad to lose someone of his capability to the Super League or even annother club, after watching him from developing youngster to the best Prop Forward in the game.

It will be the biggest non-signing tragedy in the club's history if they don't sign Civ for the next three years. Don't fool yourself - Joel Clinton is no replacement for Civ - not even in the same ball park. In my book Civ can stand beside Lazarus and Webke as the great props ever at the Broncos.

Losing Webke and Civ in the space of two seasons will do immeasurable damage. I'd rather we NOT go looking for a 3/4 if it means the difference in keeping him or losing him.

Civ is way ahead of the curve in every respect.

Ultra-elite footballer and perfect role model for all kids.

A rare and glittering jewell in league's crown.

The only Queenslander worth telling the truth to.

He represents all that is good in Rugby League

And what truth would that be?
